Cycle of Millennia 2021 Session 12: Witches and Liches 2
Here is week 12 of my 2021 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Cycle of Millennia. Lets go over session 12 : Witches and Liches 2.
Don’t forget that this campaign has been ongoing for over three years. There is a lot of story to cover and I’m writing a book series to document it all. I am adapting this adventure into a book series. The first three are on Amazon.
!!!Trigger Warnings Abound!!!
This campaign takes place in an incredibly unpleasant setting. The party has dealt with Human Traffickers, Sex Slavery, Child Sacrifice, The Apocalypse, Genocide, Wicked Cults, and other related topics.
There is a God of Madness that is fond of causing auditory and visual hallucinations, makes use of psychic gaslighting, commands the literal legions of hell, and all around causes untold suffering in the setting.
Essentially, nothing is off the table in this campaign. If the above ideas are not ones you want to think about, I do not think this blog series is for you. That is not a problem and does not indicate any failings on your part. I am a storyteller that does not shy away from the darkest topics. It would be horrible for me to not warn my audiences of this in advance.
!!!Final Trigger Warning. Past this point there be dark topics!!!
The party fended off Zombie Babies, Necromancers, and Witches who had noticed their not so quiet battle with the Lich. Horrified by the Undead Infants, Hadron cast fireball, shit his eyes, and mourned the cruel monsters that had forced him to commit such an atrocity.
The Witches did what they usually do: Warp around and cast deadly spells without regard for their lives. The Necromancers used the rest of the Undead as literal shields. Nihilin’s Minions come equipped with Magical wards that protect them from all harm unless the creatures under their command are destroyed.
Eventually the party dealt with them and set to planning how to thin the Lich Camps. Once the full moon rose, they would have little time before they had to proceed to the next phase of their plan.
Death from Above:
Once again utilizing their same tactics as before, the party jumped another Lich and its minions. More death from above and plenty of energy attacks from the creatures protecting their Lich Master.
Just like before plenty of strange spells passed up and down in that section of the Cult camp. Unfortunately, this time around, the Lich wasn’t playing around. Making use of one of the most devastating spells in its arsenal, it almost dealt a crippling blow to the party. Velkora almost died as she faced the horrific power of a death spell.
She wasn’t the only one to suffer a near deadly defeat. Hadron almost got turned to stone while making his way down. He had summoned a Vrock Demon to use as a mount. While he tried to resist the effects of petrification, the Demon in turn got put to sleep.
Grez dodged countless attacks. For whatever reason he attracted most of the enemy fire. Good thing he was also the most skilled at avoiding said danger.
The Lich fell leaving only two left in the camp. The fact that he almost succeeded in fleeing bothered the group greatly. Party got its papers and hopes that Lord Death will be able to decipher them when this is all over.
Just like before, another Witch appeared to investigate the chaos. And as it did, the other monsters became aware of invaders. The group will only be able to sneak about the camp a little longer.
Wrapup:
The full moon is coming soon. It will give Caic a chance to rid himself of a curse. That is if he can succeed. He might fail since at least one of his companions would enjoy making that happen.
