Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Earl Johnson Park

Admin/ April 17, 2021/ Florida, North Florida, Travel

I’m back to exploring after moving some miles down the road. This time I checked out Earl Johnson Park.

The first thing I noticed about Earl Johnson Park was the fact that no one else was here. I had gotten my first Vaccine Shot recently. Though I brought my mask with me just in case, I figured I wouldn’t be harming anyone if I didn’t wear it when alone, and finally got a chance to wander outside my house without it.

The area on the outskirts of the park has plenty of space to hang and probably do some outdoor activities. As you will see in a moment, this park is dedicated to one specific sport.

Soccer Fields:

Next I got to explore Earl Johnson Park properly. As you can see from the above images, this park is fully committed to being soccer fields. Or at least they would be, but the entire thing was essentially closed. By essentially, I mean that the fields were closed with signs telling me to stay off the grass.

Though the gates remained open and I decided to get a closer look without disobeying the signs. Speaking of signs, there happened to be another one making sure I knew that golfing was prohibited. I had to wonder who exactly made that sign needed. I don’t think I’ll ever find out.

Something that I liked about this park was garbage can placement. A lot of places I have visited recently either had few places to get rid of garbage or none at all. Meanwhile, this place had plenty all along the parking lot. There was no excuse for litter at Earl Johnson Park.

I finished off my journey around Earl Johnson Park by checking out the back. Nearby is a hidden fishing spot. But that is a separate park and might be a future adventure. Instead I looked around as much as I felt I was able. Noticing that at least one house and yard sat nearby, I decided not to test where private property started. You never know what you might find in Florida after all.

Pokémon Go:

Speaking of what you might find, here is Earl Johnson Park in Pokémon Go. The front has three Pokestops and a Gym. Sadly the soccer fields themselves have little to offer. The spawns were decent, but I have certainly visited better parks for playing the game. If you want to visit Earl Johnson Park, I recommend doing so to play a couple games at the soccer fields once they reopen.

At long last Trogdor the Deino evolved into Hydreigon. While he causes havoc in raid battles, I’ll be walking this Eevee to evolve into an Umbreon. I can’t reach level 42 till I evolve every single Eevolution possible.

Here I am looking at the sun at Earl Johnson Park without a mask. I swear that no one else was here. Why else why I not wear it?

Wrap Up:

Anyway, that was my adventure at Earl Johnson Park. I’ll be moving back to Orlando in the near future and want to check out as much of Jacksonville as I can before I go. Thus I’ll be cramming in as many parks as I can in the meantime.
