Megacon 2025 Day 4

Admin/ February 13, 2025/ Anime, Conventions, MegaCon, Video Games

After three days of fun, including the busiest day of Megacon I had ever seen, I returned for Megacon 2025 Day 4. The last day of Megacon tends to be a lot quieter with major emphasis on buying things. This might have something to do with artists and other creatives wanting to make as many sales as possible before they pack up. I got plenty of posters and even a few coasters this year. I’ll likely showcase the art in a future post.

Anyway, let’s take a look at what I saw on the final day. I spent a majority of time on the sales floor. And so saw plenty of cosplays. Let’s take a look at some of the ones that caught my eye.

Cosplay

I have wanted to do a gender bender cosplay for many years now. And I was encouraged by the many brave men who beat me to the punch. I saw a Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith where two of the three were men, even though two of those three are women in the game. I’ll let you guess which one. I also saw a Dori Cosplay also featuring a man cosplaying as a woman character.

The absolute highlight of my cosplay pictures though, was the group of Marceline, Princess Bubblegum, and Flame Princess. Not only are those characters involved romantically in relationships that the United States is seeing as illegal, but all three of those characters are normally women. None of them were in this picture. That is a brave group of friends and more power to them.

I also saw an Astarion portrayed by a woman. The character is male, but in general I am less surprised by woman cosplaying as male characters. Its far more normalized and accepted. Hence why I drew attention to the opposite which is not. A Doctor Doom and even a Dinosaur rounded out what I saw on the final day. But these were only a small number of the amazing costumes I saw.

Dragon Ball Panel

I only attended one panel on the final day. But it was a panel filled with legendary voice actors. Most of the main cast of Dragon Ball was sitting in front of me, sans Goku. At first I was surprised by the lack of Krillin’s Voice Actor given that I knew he was at Megacon. But just like with Bumi’s Voice Actor at the Avatar Last Airbender Panel, his voice actor popped in a few minutes in.

Unlike at the Daima panel, I was far more familiar with the topics discussed this time. Mostly discussion and questions focused on Dragon Ball and Z. There was a little discussion about events of Super, but nothing that spoiled much of the show. I’ll be watching that at some point.

One thing I took away from this panel and the Dragon Ball Daima from the prior day, is the sheer importance of Dragon Ball as a cultural phenomenon. Without this Anime, its likely events like Megacon would not be what they are. I certainly would not be watching Anime if not for me being brought into the fold while watching Dragon Ball Z on Toonami growing up.

Wrap Up

As the last day of Megacon came to a close, I was exhausted and satisfied. I look forward to this convention every single year. Its not an exaggeration to say that its a highlight of the year that keeps me going. Hence why I decided not to write a Surviving the Felon this last week.

But there is no Megacon next week. I’ll be back to creating a new habit next week. Stand strong everyone. Find what makes you happy and don’t let all the negativity of the world steal it from you.
