Exploring the World With Pokémon Go: Red Barber Park
When I had gone on hikes in the past, I had traveled past a park on my drive that I hadn’t gotten a chance to check out. I decided it was time to fix that. And I was happy with what I discovered at Red Barber Park.
Red Barber Park is set in a single square block near downtown Sanford in Florida. This is common for parks in the area. But also common for these parks is how varied they all are. Its almost like a small work of art unto itself to look at all these parks that all take up roughly the same amount of space.
So what will one find here? The centerpieces are the two playgrounds near the front. And after all the times that I went past, I assumed that was all. But this is a time where I’m happy I was wrong. Beyond that playground there is much more to see.
Namely an open green space with several benches scattered about. Some of the trees were in bloom despite the fact that its winter. Florida does that sometimes. It was raining a little but the air was warm so it didn’t bother me.
Behind the park is a school. And in front of the school sits a fountain. A sidewalk rounds the perimeter of the park and took me through there. I respected that the school was not a place I belonged and took the route that kept me away from it. There was plenty there for me to enjoy without encroaching on others.
Pokémon Go
Parks can be great places for Pokémon Go. And while Red Barber Park didn’t have a ton of stops or Gyms, it still had enough to supply visitors with items to catch the plentiful spawns. I would suggest walking around the parks in downtown Sanford. There are many nearby each other and ensure an essentially endless number of places to play with stops and Gyms. If this park is your vibe, maybe this is your spot. But its worth checking out either way.
Wrap Up
Its been a bit since I went on a hike. But I always feel good afterwards. More motivated to do things during the day. Exploring the world has been a great coping mechanism over the years and it gets me outside. A win win. I’m excited for wherever my next adventure takes me. Its one of the few things that I do that can be spontaneous and work.
