Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: James Dunn Park

Admin/ March 2, 2023/ Central Florida, Florida, Travel, Video Games

For my next adventure, I continued exploring all the little parks in Sanford, Florida by visiting James Dunn Park.

James Dunn Park is named after the lake that it wraps around. I got some pretty shots of this lake as the sun continued to rise. I am finding that I enjoy waking up early in the morning so that I can be out and about at this unusual part of the morning. The lighting is unique and most of the world is still waking up. It gives me a chance for more photo oppertunities.

There are a lot of birds that either make the park their home or visit. I even saw a peacock. You can spot it in a few of the pictures. Given its size though, I was afraid to get too close. I know that these birds can get aggressive sometimes. And as one of the closest ancestors to Velociraptors, I didn’t want to risk such an encounter with a bird roughly my size.

Birds aside, the park is mostly shaded with benches accessible on every side of this park. Its nice to see how accessible this place is to many people. The circular design around the lake combined with parking all around means that all points of interest here are within easy reach. Though that might seem minor given how easy that is to do in this specific spot, I’ll still commend those who designed this green space.

Pokémon Go:

James Dunn Park was a peaceful and serene place in reality, but how did it measure up in Pokémon Go? Well that depends on what it is compared to. For example, compared to my last few adventures, this park is a much better place to play the game. After all there is a Pokestop and plenty of spawns.

However, compared to spots with several stops and gyms, this park is a bit disappointing. The good note of course as the picture above shows is that there are several other parks nearby. Although the ones you can see don’t have stops, several others that you can’t see do. I’ll be exploring some of those in upcoming blog posts.

I hatched an Archen. But its stats were terrible so I didn’t hold onto it

Due to a quest in Pokémon Go, I need to get 10 of my Pokémon to best buddy status. That means you can look forward to seeing my evolved sneaky fox for a while. It will be eating the food in your house while you are distracted with this blog post.

I love the early morning. Birds sing to each other as the sun slowly rises. Even though I go on these adventures on my days off work, I still try to wake up early so that I can replicate this experience every week. Look forward to more adventures in the early sunlight. This seems to be something I’m interested in repeating.
