Cycle of Millennia 2023 Session 67: Moshe

Admin/ February 10, 2023/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Here is week 67 of my 2022 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Cycle of Millennia. The party has defeated one Goddess, but can they overcome Moshe and death itself?

Don’t forget that this campaign has been ongoing for over four years. There is a lot of story to cover and I’m writing a book series to document it all. I am adapting this adventure into a book series. The first three are on Amazon.

!!!Trigger Warnings Abound!!!

This campaign takes place in an incredibly unpleasant setting. The party has dealt with Human Traffickers, Sex Slavery, Child Sacrifice, The Apocalypse, Genocide, Wicked Cults, and other related topics.

There is a God of Madness that is fond of causing auditory and visual hallucinations, makes use of psychic gaslighting, commands the literal legions of hell, and all around causes untold suffering in the setting.

Essentially, nothing is off the table in this campaign. If the above ideas are not ones you want to think about, I do not think this blog series is for you. That is not a problem and does not indicate any failings on your part. I am a storyteller that does not shy away from the darkest topics. It would be horrible for me to not warn my audiences of this in advance.

!!!Final Trigger Warning. Past this point there be dark topics!!!

The party fought continuous waves of Undead in an effort to attack Moshe directly. But just like countless other necromancers that served the God of Death, he was protected so long as even a single summoned creature remained.

Worse, some of the Undead could themselves summon more monsters. All in all though, this was all just a stall tactic. And Moshe like any politician loved his speeches. Getting gutted or punched would be a rude interruption after all.

But through it all, the Lich continued to channel some sort of spell. And until they knew what, the party remained on edge. Even as the undead continued to go through a meatgrinder trying to add the group to their ranks. And failing of course.

Prismatic Wall:

Eventually though, the monster supply ran out. But that was not a problem for Moshe who finally completed his spell. Or rather two of them. And neither were to the party’s liking. The first was something they had hoped to never deal with again: Prismatic Wall. And like all walls, it purpose was to trap them. And that led to the second spell the Lich cast.

Luciano, Denessa and Sneak Peak appeared inside the wall too. The party wasn’t happy to se any of them. Less so when Moshe informed them that he had connected their fates and souls. The last thing Hadron wanted was for Luciano to be alive after forcing him to kill his cousin. But these cruel games were exactly how Moshe got his kicks.

Deadly Schemes:

Turned out there were more Undead to kill. And Moshe had no doubt that the party would kill these ones as well. But as usual the party and their “allies” were doing Moshe’s dirty work for him. Something he was more than happy to tell them about.

The monsters in front of them now were former leaders and politicians of Innovia. Not only had Moshe orchestrated their rises, but their falls as well. And once they were dead, the Lich would claim credit for their deaths. There didn’t seem to be a way for the party to get one up on him. Even if they beat him he won. Even if they killed him, he won. Moshe served the God of Death after all.

But the party didn’t care about Moshe’s schemes. Not really. He was in the way of them saving the world. And so they did exactly as the Lich wanted. Even as they couldn’t see him through the prismatic wall. But they had to tear it down to deal with the Lich. And so cautiously, they did.

But on the other side, Moshe started casting another spell. And he continued with his political speeches. Notably, he crushed two other Phylacteries. Turned out that neither Lorsen or Saleh would be coming after them ever again.

Wrap Up:

But what is the Lich planning next? And why would he destroy two of his most dangerous minions as part of it? The party doesn’t like this at all. After all, they have yet to defeat Moshe in any of their encounters.
