Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: George W Touhy Park

Admin/ February 16, 2023/ Central Florida, Florida, Travel

For my next adventure I explored George W Touhy Park. Its one of the oldest greenspaces in Sanford, Florida.

George W Touhy Park is one of the original greenspaces in Sanford. This land was set aside when the city was being built and designed. Such an important part of history has plenty of signs to tell you about it. Visiting the park in a way was a self guided tour into the past.

I won’t go into too much detail about what I learned while reading. After all, the purpose of this blog is to show places with the hopes that those of you reading this will come to these parks yourself and take them in. This post like all the others is a window with directions on how to find what’s on the other side.

Several groves of trees grow in the park and according to several of those same signs, several different species are present in each corner. I personally don’t know much about vegetation, but I imagine for someone who does, this park is a real treat.

Instead I’ll talk a bit more at length about something I do know a bit more about. The pictures of the park speak for themselves. The green space is open and the place appears like it is well lit at night. But I want to commend this spot for something else that not every park does. And that is a great score for accessibility.

Accessibility:

I keep intending to talk more about how some parks are more open to the public than others. And I figured it was time to do so on a high note. George W Touhy Park can be enjoyed by just about anyone. There are several paths to multiple destinations in this little corner of the world. And no one corner is too far from the others.

Perfect for the little ones and adults that need some peace and quiet. Though this park may seem simple compared to some others, there is a lot to offer here. It would be worth a visit for whatever reason you might need to get into nature for a bit.

Pokémon Go:

George W Touhy Park has plenty of Pokestops in Pokémon Go. And while the spawns were not as plentiful as some other parks, its still worth coming here in game. After all, parks near cities and major towns are always worthwhile in game. Within walking distance are several more parks and tons of stops, Pokémon, and egg hatching opportunities in just the above picture alone.

Make this park one stop of many on a Pokémon adventure in Sanford, Florida. There is a lot to do and see here. And this blog has only touched the surface of what you might find.

Say hello to a sneaky fox. They are in this photo and several of your own. They might be eating your food right now. Better go check to be safe.

I had to take this picture a couple of times. For some reason I didn’t smile the first few attempts. Not that I was feeling upset. Smiling just doesn’t come naturally to me. Maybe if I fake it enough times that will change. Not that I didn’t enjoy myself of course. Going on these walks is one of the highlights of my week.

Plenty of parks still in Sanford. And there are several more trails I found that I intend to explore. There is so much to see and I intend to chronical as much of it as I can.
