Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Beck Ranch Park Recreation Field
Beck Ranch Park Recreation Field is the first of two parts of a larger park. Let’s take a look at what I found there.
Before I reached Beck Ranch Park Recreation Field, I took a walk through a green parking lot that had a lot more space than this park probably needs. Then again, there are signs that this whole space is being upgraded with new stuff.
Recently Florida decided to participate in winter for a couple days. With temperatures dropping to below freezing, a lot of grass died. Just getting that out of the way before these pictures leave you wondering why everything looks brown and dead. Worse, Hurricane Ian flooded this whole area only a few months back. This region can’t catch a break.
I’m not sure how much of the fenced off area is part of this park, the entrance to another one, or private property. In Florida you learn really quick not to go out into fenced off spaces, especially away from the big cities like I am in this place.
The Park:
After walking through the green, brown, and partially dead parking lot, I reached Beck Ranch Park Recreation Field proper. There are a lot of nets set up for plenty of soccer, or Football for all the people not living in the United States.
While I have never really been much a soccer person, courtesy of being terrible at most sports, I realize how important it is to have green spaces dedicated to the sport. Parks like this one allow a chance for families to all spend time together while running around.
When I visited the park was empty and I felt disappointed. I even posted on a few different social media platforms about it. Funny enough, right after doing so, I found a few water bottles left behind and still partially filled with water. Not sure how long ago they were left, but at least this is a sign of use.
Looking at the above images, you might be wondering why I took a few of the ground. Specifically I want to draw your attention to those mounds of dirt. For those of you who live in Florida, you already know what those are. For those of you reading this who don’t, should you visit the Sunshine State do not step in those dirt mounds. Those are where Fire Ants live. And you don’t want to antagonize them.
There is an entire separate section of this park still to check out. And I’m not sure if the two are connected besides the nearby trail. I hope you are looking forward to checking out the next part. Its gonna be quite different from this adventure.
Pokémon Go:
Let’s take a look at Pokemon Go in the lens of Beck Ranch Park Recreation Field. I’m sure you can tell that its not the most optimal place to play. Especially when the nearby Osteen Civic Center is jam packed with spawns and stops. Come check out the fields to play soccer or go for a little walk. For Pokemon Go alone, I advise going elsewhere.
I hatched several eggs and the Fomantis above was almost perfect statwise. So I evolved it. After some really crappy hatches, it was nice to finally get a good one. I always welcome more chances to have Toxipex though. From what I understand its pretty strong in Pokémon Go.
Hey look, its the shiny Noibat. Its having fun exploring with me. And I get to flex that I have a shiny Noibat all the while.
I need a haircut and a good shave. But all in all, I’m glad to be back to exploring the world. Well at least exploring my backyard. One park at a time, one segment of a trail, and step after step around each of them and I may very well reach my goal.
