Cycle of Millennia 2023 Session 64: Lorsen

Admin/ January 12, 2023/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Here is week 64 of my 2022 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Cycle of Millennia. Grez saved his allies but their next enemy is Lorsen. And he has the power to control time.

Don’t forget that this campaign has been ongoing for over four years. There is a lot of story to cover and I’m writing a book series to document it all. I am adapting this adventure into a book series. The first three are on Amazon.

!!!Trigger Warnings Abound!!!

This campaign takes place in an incredibly unpleasant setting. The party has dealt with Human Traffickers, Sex Slavery, Child Sacrifice, The Apocalypse, Genocide, Wicked Cults, and other related topics.

There is a God of Madness that is fond of causing auditory and visual hallucinations, makes use of psychic gaslighting, commands the literal legions of hell, and all around causes untold suffering in the setting.

Essentially, nothing is off the table in this campaign. If the above ideas are not ones you want to think about, I do not think this blog series is for you. That is not a problem and does not indicate any failings on your part. I am a storyteller that does not shy away from the darkest topics. It would be horrible for me to not warn my audiences of this in advance.

!!!Final Trigger Warning. Past this point there be dark topics!!!

After defeating one of the two Liches, Velkoara’s soul appeared reuniting the full group. But they were not free from Nihilinn just yet. Without any time to breath, the second and more dangerous Lich appeared and gave them little time to react before he vowed to finish them off.

Lorsen was a powerful foe. Of all of Nihilinn’s servants, only Moshe himself worried them more. After all, this man turned Lich had been their enemy since the start. All the way back in Krento he had been the bartender that kickstarted their quest. And here he was at the very end of the journey. This time intending to collect that debt and much more.

And like his companion, Lorsen had power over one of the fundamental forces of reality. And here within his master’s realm, those abilities were amplified. Problematic since that fundamental force was time.

Out of Time:

Taking this fight to deadly levels instantly, Lorsen accelerated time for himself. Meanwhile, he slowed the entire group. Their movements grew sluggish and made them his prey.

But even with unbelievable advantages, the Lich could not overcome Grez who also had the ability to manipulate time. Though without the full extent of his powers as Wylf, his application was much more limited.

But like the first Lich, Lorsen had some more tricks to play. And he cast another spell that not only slowed time further and further down for the group. But started to erase their strength as well. As more and more of their abilities faded, their chances of defeating the Lich vanished.

Though they battled as hard as they could given all the handicaps they were forced to deal with, it seemed they had finally met a foe that was too much for them. First Caic completely faded away. Velkoara was second. And even Hadron who had been steadfast and able to fight through almost anything vanished as well.

Once only Grez remained, Lorsen decided to gloat for a moment. Claiming he had even defeated Wylf a fundamental force in the setting, the Monk desperately tried to continue the fight. But at this point, his attacks could not harm the Lich. He was too weak.

Divine Punishment:

But when his own time hit zero, Lorsen was in for a horrible shock. Grez hadn’t vanished. Instead, he reverted to Wylf. And at full power. Even a Lich in the realm of death and drawing power from said realm was nothing more than a gnat in the face of such strength.

Wylf was not gentle. This creature had toyed with his friends. He had forced them to kill innocent Orcs. And worst of all, Lorsen was the reason that Grez had met Sneak Peak. That above all else was unforgivable.

After obliterating Lorsen and destroying his spirit to such a severe degree that it might take decades before the Lich could regenerate, he found his friends’ souls and took them with him. The four escaped Nihilinn’s Realm and returned to their dark reality.

Escape:

After escaping the realm of death, the party did not see Moshe or his army of the dead that had cast the group down in the first place. Instead, it was several of their allies: Death Knights, Berserker Knights, Orcs, Dwarves, Druids, Paladins, Dark Elves, Wylf’s Army, and Charice Faithful.

Antoinette informed them that they had not been in the realm of the dead long. Once more Nihilinn had failed to destroy them. Or really slow them down at all. Which left only one thing to do.

They all entered Entropy’s Realm. It was really time to end this now. The final battle was through that portal. There was no turning back.

Wrap Up:

It was time to end the Evil God’s reign of terror.
