Centrum Glacies 2022 Session 40: Back into the Base
Week 40 in 2022 of this Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies takes our Platinum and Mythril Adventurers back into the base of Cult Trainees.
Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book series. However I’m still working on that project. Give it some time.
Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing once the book series starts hitting virtual and real shelves.
!!!Trigger Warning!!!
This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture.
Most recently one of the party members had an eye gouged out and lost an arm. Not exactly the way it happens in Berserk, but that might have been the inspiration for it. The group at large is currently succumbing to magical wounds that appear to be turning them into Demons.
!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!
After getting their feet grounded beyond the encounter with Hashim, the party got new orders from the Orc Matron. Jarrar needed to be dealt with. Though she advised letting him live was ultimately the right move, the group had several reasons to kill the Dark Elf. Several betrayals and months spent in prison being his most recent acts against them.
Unfortunately there was another issue. Teztcal’s ego had been hit and he needed to reclaim it. Not to mention the rest of the party was suspicious of him. He demanded respect from the Orcs. The Orcs laughed at him. Jyona wanted several of his scales. Malcolm wondered how he had such misfortune. It was a grand time.
Realizing what she wanted, the Dragon stole some of her belongings. Naturally, Jyona would not allow this. She fought with him tooth and nail. It was hard to tell which of the two was acting more mature. But they drew a crowd of stunned onlookers. She finally let him go after taking her stuff back. Tensions continue to be high after the fact though.
Resolve:
But Teztcal had nothing better to do and basically no direction in life. With no other options that interested him, he decided to play nice temporarily and join this group. But he fully intended to steal some stuff before Jyona could do the same to him. He was the servant of a Dragon God after all.
After making it through the canyon once more, the party entered the lower floors of the Cult of Obsidian Base. Smoke filled the air and made it hard to see, but they had a plan. And ironically the one who had delivered them this method was an enemy.
Trent had traveled into one of these before with Zinbella. And though the Psychic Vampire Druid was leaving them alone for the time being, she was still a Platinum Adventurer. But she wasn’t the problem right now. Jarrar who likely sat at the center of this base was their current focus. And Trent knew the exact layout to get to him.
But Trent along with the others feared that Jarrar had set a trap for them. Their entry had been without resistance. And obviously the Dark Elf was expecting them. Which is why rather then head for the center, the group went the other way to clear out other enemies first.
Wrap Up:
Jarrar is nearby and the party has a choice to make. Letting him live goes against what they think he deserves. But killing him might condemn many innocent Dark Elves to be enslaved and brainwashed by the Cult of Obsidian.
