Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Coast to Coast Trail 7

I returned to adventuring down Coast to Coast Trail 7. The end of the trail is nearby. But I didn’t reach it in this post.

Mile Marker 10:

Leaving the swamps far behind, or really just a couple miles to my right, I took Coast to Coast Trail 7 towards the town of Mims. The area around the trail is mostly homes that are farms. There was tons of farm life to get glimpses of.

From donkeys, to chickens, and even some cows, there were a lot of different animals to look at as I continued my hike. Speaking of things to look at, the clouds on this walk were simply amazing. You will notice as you keep reading this post that I took tons of pictures of the sky. They speak for themselves. The pictures that is. Not the clouds.

Mile Marker 10 was next. And as the numbers are increasing again, I’m not sure how far I am from the end of this trail. But I imagine its soon going to end. I know the trail ends in Titusville. And Mims is on that cities doorstep. And the ocean is nearby. Only a massive river that at some places looks like the ocean itself really stands between me and it.

Mile Marker 11:

The next section of Coast to Coast Trail 7 took me closer to downtown Mims. Don’t get the wrong idea though. Mims isn’t a city. Downtown in this case just indicates where most of the shops are. Usually you can find it by where the two most important roads in the region meet. In this case those roads are US Highway 1 and Florida State Route 46.

I crossed Route 46 towards the end of this segment. And around this part, the farm houses changed into more suburban style ones. Not that the farm animals disappeared or anything. Its just that it felt closer to Orlando. Which I guess was a little strange since most of Volusia and Brevard County have been rural with little sign of civilization outside of homes.

But I’m close to US 1 at this point in the trail. And such a major road has tons of industries along it. Not to mention the ocean that is not far away at all. You will see in a moment how much everything changes once the trail meets this historic highway.

I knew was close to the end when I reached mile marker 11. Gonna guess that I won’t pass a mile marker 20 before the end. And guess what that means. Its possible that the next post will be the final one on this trail.

Mile Marker 12:

The final segment of Coast to Coast Trail 7 was my favorite part. Immediately upon entering downtown Mims, the country feel of most of Volusia and Brevard vanished. Along US 1 I found several manufacturing plants. Most of them were filled with noise as people worked their crafts to create all sorts of stuff.

There were plenty of cars on the nearby road. And several bikers and walkers making me double and triple check what and who might be in my photos before taking them. Not that I mind of course. Though I have been on several hikes through the wilderness, I’m most happy in urban environments. Probably has something to do with my upbringing.

I saw plenty of signs along the road as well. Several I was neutral towards. A few I disagreed with. Quite frankly it would be more concerning of I agreed with them. I’m a contrarian by nature. Its how I maintain my edginess. But you know what wasn’t edgy? Those clouds. Man those clouds were cool. I’m hoping I see more when I return to this spot. Its where I’ll begin what might be my final adventure on this trail.

Mile Marker 12 was my stopping point for the day. I have a good feeling that the next post will be the final one on this trail. This mile marker is located in Titusville, the city where I know this trail ends. In fact, since I have visited that city extensively, I think I know exactly where this trail ends. Soon enough, I’ll find out if I’m right.

Pokémon Go:

Admittedly, I did not choose the best spot to showcase Coast to Coast Trail 7 in Pokémon Go. The above image is near the trailhead I started at, but when you move closer to US 1 there are many more Pokestops as well as plentiful spawns.

While still nowhere near as good as going to a park to play the game, this section of the park is comparable to the last part. Which means its a huge improvement from several earlier sections that were basically empty. If you want to hatch some eggs while spinning some stops, go take a walk down this section of the trail.

I hatched a Smoochum. And that is all I will say on that.

Nothing crazy spawned while using the blue incense this time. But given that on prior hikes I got some extremely rare spawns, it only a matter of time before it happens again.

Here is the newest buddy, Helioptile. This thing loves all weather except hail/snow. Good thing I live in Florida where snow is a fairy tale told to children to make sure they drive better as adults. And I won’t be walking outside in hail for my own safety.

That is US 1 behind me. I’m so close to the end. The Indian River which feeds into the Atlantic Ocean is only a mile and a half from where I am standing. The river itself is separated from the ocean by Merritt Island. You may not have heard of the island, but I bet you have heard of the Kennedy Space Center which happens to be on that island.

I think the next adventure on this trail will be the last one. Look forward to that post soon.
