Cycle of Millennia 2022 Session 57: God of Freedom

Admin/ September 15, 2022/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Here is week 57 of my 2022 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Cycle of Millennia, God of Freedom. With his full power, Grez creates a miracle.

Don’t forget that this campaign has been ongoing for over four years. There is a lot of story to cover and I’m writing a book series to document it all. I am adapting this adventure into a book series. The first three are on Amazon.

!!!Trigger Warnings Abound!!!

This campaign takes place in an incredibly unpleasant setting. The party has dealt with Human Traffickers, Sex Slavery, Child Sacrifice, The Apocalypse, Genocide, Wicked Cults, and other related topics.

There is a God of Madness that is fond of causing auditory and visual hallucinations, makes use of psychic gaslighting, commands the literal legions of hell, and all around causes untold suffering in the setting.

Essentially, nothing is off the table in this campaign. If the above ideas are not ones you want to think about, I do not think this blog series is for you. That is not a problem and does not indicate any failings on your part. I am a storyteller that does not shy away from the darkest topics. It would be horrible for me to not warn my audiences of this in advance.

!!!Final Trigger Warning. Past this point there be dark topics!!!

Even with stronger Demons trying to stop the cleansing ritual, the party prevailed. After all, Grez was the God of Freedom. Which made him even more powerful and durable than ever before.

Now that the ritual was finished, all the were creatures Kranaak had enslaved were free. And Grez proved that he was capable of saving the world with his boosted power.

The party left the Temple of Wylf in triumph ready to return to the surface and end the Evil Gods tyranny once and for all. Naturally whenever things went well for them, it meant something horrible was coming next.

And of course that trouble appeared as if on cue. The worst kind of trouble in the bottom of a dark valley where most of the party had trouble seeing. What trouble you ask? Luna. The most dangerous Demon and possibly being in the entire setting.

First, she split everyone up and picked them off one by one. And given that she moved as a blur, the party didn’t have any advantages against her even with Wylf’s blessing. The Demon possessing Luna was equally blessed by Kranaak and also could see five seconds into the future.

Alone and in the dark, Luna easily picked the party off one by one. Her attacks could cleave buildings and she moved extremely fast too. Even Caic heavily armored as he was and protected against creatures like this fell to her attacks. Only due to the God of Freedom’s blessing did they stay in the fight.

Unfortunately, the entire battle was in Luna’s favor from the start. She hadn’t come to kill the party. Instead she was here to nab some of Wylf’s essence. Which she did by stealing his transformation powers. A cruel irony since he had just allowed every lycanthrope to safely transform.

Now even more powerful than before, Luna or rather the Demon possessing her cast a horrible spell. The ground around Wylf’s sanctuary began to crumble and the mushrooms above started to burn. Grez grew furious as he realized that the Demon was doing this to a place that was rightfully his.

There was only one thing to do now. The party gathered up all of Wylf’s followers and with Jay, Lone, and Belwyn’s help, they fled from the underground city before it became their tomb.

On the way back up they got attacked by Kranaak’s Demon horde with the goal of keeping them from escaping. But Wylf’s army refused to get stuck. The Demon hordes couldn’t stop the party, much less their allies. Even with the bridges collapsing, the group managed to stay ahead of the destruction.

Kranaak must have been really pissed at them because they had been through his Demon realm and never fought whatever was blocking the way to the elevator back up. But with a fiery tomb below and freedom above, the party would kill as many Demons as it took to end the God responsible for it.
