Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Joe & Lillian Davin Park

Admin/ April 24, 2021/ Florida, North Florida, Travel

Next up I went to Joe & Lillian Davin Park while continuing my journey around San Marco Florida. Let’s take a look at what I found.

Joe & Lillian Davin Park is a straightforward experience. I mean that in the literal sense. Design wise, this park is a small strip of green surrounded by streets on all sides. There is just enough room for two groups to pass each other comfortably.

I imagine that the park is well lit at night. Slightly visible from my images are small lights on the ground that mark the clear path down the parkway.

Benches are scattered down the walkway and give plenty of places for someone to rest. There is quite a bit to look at outside the park too. Massive houses ringed the other end of the street. I was walking around a fairly affluent neighborhood. But since this blog is about parks and not people’s homes, you will just have to take my word for it.

If not for the above signs, one might be forgiven for assuming that Joe & Lillian Davin Park isn’t a park at all. But the first outlines the rules I have come to expect from Jacksonville parks. The second sign was far more interesting. It outlined some of the historical significance not just of this park, but a few of the others I had already visited.

I won’t recite everything written on it. I want people to be inspired to explore these parks on their own after all. But I always enjoy learning about why locations are named such and who they are named after.

Oh and I made sure to include a picture of a bench. Just in case you thought I was lying about them being here for some reason.

Pokémon Go:

Well I have discussed Joe & Lillian Davin Park in the real world. So how does it look in Pokémon Go? Well, as I stated earlier, you would be forgiven for not realizing that I was at a park. Pokémon Go doesn’t think this is a park either. Which is unfortunate. Not being a park in game means the spawns are lower, the gym is not EX Viable. Its a miracle that there is a gym and Pokestop at all.

Still, San Marco in general is a great spot to play Pokémon Go. You have to take all the parks and areas in between as one greater sum rather than visits by themselves.

Also, that is not the ocean above me in the image. That is the Saint Johns River which in this part of Florida is fairly wide.

While this looks like the same Eevee I was walking before, its actually a different one. Remember my last Eevee is now an Umbreon. This one is going to get plenty of sunshine since I intend to evolve it into an Espeon. It had fun with me at Joe & Lillian Davin Park. And it is looking forward to even more adventures.

It’s me again. This time with a mask. The park was a bit more crowded than the last couple. Since as I mentioned earlier, there was little space for social distancing, I opted to wear it this time.

Wrap Up:

There are still many more parks in San Marco to explore. Look forward to plenty of adventures as I continue checking them all out.
