Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Historic Kings Road Park

Admin/ April 29, 2021/ Florida, North Florida, Travel

For my next adventure, I traveled to Historic Kings Road Park. Given this park’s location and size my expectations going into this were low. Let’s see if that held true.

With a name like Historic Kings Road Park, it doesn’t take one long to figure out what they might find here. I was pleasantly surprised. I was expected a completely bare green field with a couple trees dotting the landscape.

Instead, I found multiple benches, plenty of trees, and path to walk from one end of the park to the other. However, the multiple plaques and monuments seized most of my interest. Many of them told the history of San Marco and the surrounding area. There is always more to learn and I liked what I discovered. But I won’t be telling you. After all, you should come here yourself and see what I saw.

Importance of Exploration:

The rest of Historic Kings Road Park was more of the same. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing in this case though. There was plenty of new history to learn about and another tree to rest under only a few steps away from each of those locations.

I also took a picture of a nearby highway bridge. Anyone who has visited Jacksonville Florida has likely used that bridge. It carries US 1, US 90, and Interstate 95 into downtown Jacksonville. Why are all these major highways on one bridge you ask? Simple. There is a natural barrier that runs right through the middle of downtown. The Saint Johns River which has made few appearances on this blog so far. But don’t worry. Given where I am traveling to next, don’t expect that to last.

So why does the above paragraph matter? Simple. Sometimes the best way to point out the importance of slowing down and looking at what’s in your backyard is to show places that are used every day that are within eye sight. Realizing how much I hadn’t seen near my house was why I started this blog in the first place. I hope I can instill that same level of curiosity in any who read this.

Pokémon Go:

Let’s take a look at Historic Kings Road Park under the Pokémon Go lens. Unfortunately, the game does not recognize this spot as a park at all. That means spawns are much lower. At least there is one Pokestop here. But that alone isn’t enough to come visit.

If you are looking to learn about San Marco, give this place a look. But for your Pokémon Go needs, I recommend going to downtown San Marco. Its only a few blocks away.

I’m still traveling with this future Espeon. But not too much longer. At last check, in about 2.5 Kilometers I’ll be able to it into its final form. So if you like Eevee look forward to a few pictures with this little buddy.

I was the only person at Historic Kings Road Park so I didn’t have to wear my mask. Especially with how all the new outdoor mask mandates seem to be working, expect to see more of me without the mask. Guess I’ll have to shave soon.

Well there are still plenty of places to explore in San Marco. Look forward to more blog posts. Especially with a certain park I have visited in the past being on the horizon. You won’t want to miss that.
