Surviving the Quarantine: Post 21
Surviving the Quarantine has made it to part 21 and can legally drink in the United States. Be sure to check out the rest of this series. I like to reference things I stated in earlier entries.
Not too much negative to tell this week that wasn’t already mentioned earlier. Most of it is political so I’ll sum things up quickly.
First and most importantly, I wrote this blog post on September 11th. This is the day of the twin towers terrorist attack in New York. And while people are posting all over the internet about how together our country was in this moments, that’s not true at all.
If you were Jewish, Muslim, or from the Middle East, you did not feel solidarity at all. You felt hatred in the looks of your fellow Americans. There was no kindness to be found. Not when “your people killed those in New York.” Or, “your people make the world a more dangerous place just by existing.”
I remember 9/11 as does anyone who was alive and understood the significance of such a day. But I also remember the days after. School filled with bullies who called me a murderer. Students who looked at me with concern for their safety. All this because I was Jewish and people believed then, as they still do now that the reason terrorists attacked on 9/11 was because the United States was friends with Israel.
Somehow, American Jews, not to mention, the Jewish State, somehow existing justifies terror and violence used against those in New York sickened me then and sickens me even more now. To say that 9/11 was the catalyst that was my personal start of darkness is an understatement.
And none of what I just posed above even begins to describe the horrible place the United States became post 9/11. Terrorism won and the United States lost. Every year that becomes clearer to me. All these endless wars, all the innocent deaths, the sheer division and hatred in our country. Bin Laden is smiling in his underwater grave.
The other issue requires way less to talk about. I currently work for the United States Census. Under normal conditions, this organization stays neutral in all things political. After all, that’s how it should be when it comes to important data.
However, the news is focusing in on this agency is there is a lawsuit brewing. I won’t share my personal thoughts as I work for the government and sharing my feelings is a conflict of interest. Still, I wish things would simply allow me to do my job without that sort of focus.
Anyway, the negative is talked about, so lets move on to the good. Despite the one negative thing I mentioned about my job earlier, the rest of my time working has been incredible. People continue to tell me that they appreciate what I do. I’ll need to fight hard not to burnout and become lazy as I keep working hard and setting an example.
Re: Zero continues to be the main attraction of my Anime Watches. Truly this show is an absolute spectacle. I will never see bunnies the same ever again. And even more is happening. Will this show threaten my top three favorite Anime? Time will tell.
Fire Force, deserves its own paragraph finally. The show has finally gotten back to what I loved so much about the first season. The fanservice that I can’t stand is taking a backseat to incredible storytelling and I’m looking forward to more of it.
Misfit of Demon King Academy, and The God of High School are also puling their weight. Oh and a Certain Scientific Railgun is airing again. While not as notable as the other two, I keep watching these shows so they are still worth checking out.
Two of my Dungeons and Dragons Campaigns happened this week. Both continue to feel like separate entities as both stories continue to explore different worlds.
In Cycle of Millennia, the party battled the Succubus Queen and her entire realm attacked the group. Their Vampire ally was locked out of this battle and so they were forced to do battle without her.
The Queen’s spells confused and confounded the party. She managed to force them to feel the pain of their own attacks whenever they managed to harm her. And all the while she continuously leeched their souls away hoping to draw out the battle.
Finally, though the party overcame this powerful Demon Queen and escaped her realm. After speaking with the few allies that remained in the Demon Realm, the party pressed on.
They found themselves back in the Dwarven City but only long enough for Fodrin, the Dwarf the party wants to kill above all others, to remind them that this was now a permanent part of the Kranaak’s realm. No amount of heroism would change that.
The Monk charged ahead declaring that he was no hero. And enraged, started attacking nearby Dwarves. Only when he realized that both Fodrin and Antoinette, were getting a kick out of his actions did he stop. Nothing positive could be gained from pleasing both of them at once.
The group got into a violent argument as Fodrin left them to their own devices. The Vampire tried her best to get the group to get along, but despite this, its clear that even while Geased to help them, she has an agenda.
They confronted the remaining members of House Runebrewer and found Demonic possession waiting for them. Can the group get along and properly put a stop to this madness or will their adventure end in the deep depths of hell itself?
Meanwhile, in Centrum Glacies, the party continued their underground dungeon crawl of Wack a Vampire Spawn. The Warlock who continued to feel guilt for every life lost decided to create an illusion of the Succubus who desired his soul. Using such illusion he made the Vampires out and kill themselves.
But while this might speed up their crawl through this terrifying place, what will happen when they corner the Demon? This will be their first time fighting such a creature. And their companion who got slashed by her a single time is slowly turning into a monster.
Lest the party forget, the Demon is controlling the Vampires who may or may not have been controlling a large city all along. They would best be ready for anything.
Anyway, I continued to stream Persona 4 this week. Here is one more boss fight video for you to indulge in. You check out my Twitch Channel though. All the cool kids are.
Here is Boss 4: Shadow Kanji.
Let’s hope that things continue trending positive. I have to be vigilant that I don’t make any silly mistakes while I’m happy and have my guard down.
