Surviving the Quarantine Post 17

I’m back yet again with Surviving the Quarantine Part 17. Things are busy at work. Oh and a certain virus is busy spreading too. Check out the rest of the series on my time getting through 2020 here.

Well I was exposed to Covid a week ago, multiple times in fact. Luckily I did not get sick. Unfortunately, plenty of bad things happened in the world this week. Let’s talk about them.

World Politics:

First there was the explosion in Beirut. A whole lot of innocent people lost their lives. But of course, before they were even buried tons of groups sought to exploit the tragedy for political points including the dear old USA.

Speaking of the United States, the orange turd continues to work his way towards voting for Social Security to be eliminated. I continue to wonder what will happen to the Republican Party when many of its voters just die from lack of financial support. But do they even care. Rule long enough and you can just gut elections anyway.

Also speaking of the United States, I am not pleased with my Democratic option. I feel like running on a platform of “I am Not Trump” is not the way to win right now. This demonstrates to me that even if we oust the orange man, another even loonier leader will take his place when the opposition accomplishes nothing. Tom Cotton is already being groomed for this position by the way.

Cultural Issues:

With Kamala Harris being in the public eye once again, another issue I never thought would even be brought up is circling radio waves. This issue is Jews marrying Gentiles.

This issue is foremost in my thoughts since I have been single for basically my entire life. Limiting my options of romantic partners almost assures I’ll live a life alone. Not something I’m looking forward to. However, cultural shame is not something I’m looking forward to either.

For I along with basically every other Jewish person have been taught basically our entire lives an important truth. The entire world wants us dead. Even now that is true given current world events. And unfortunately, we have also been taught that certain choices make us into what we seek to oppose.

An important rule in Judaism is that the woman must be Jewish for said children to be part of the tribe. Jews have also been educated on the fact that it was only recently that our population has returned to pre Holocaust levels. My whole life I have been told that I must continue the tribe. IE, not marrying a Jewish woman and having Jewish babies means I am furthering the work of the Nazis and removing future Jews from existence.

Does the above sound like extreme hyperbole? It probably does to a non Jew. But the reality is, that is what we are all taught from a young age. Its not something one can simply walk away from. Especially given that people are blaming Jews for all the violence in the world right now even.

Mania:

Anyway, enough about that. Let’s move on. One other problematic thing happened in my personal life. After dealing with Depression and Anxiety for so long, I was ill prepared to deal with the emotional state that is the most dangerous to me of them all: Mania.

After all the cruel things that have happened to me in my life, I do not experience joy or happiness. I don’t even know what those feelings well… feel like. Instead, when I feel happy, Depression and Anxiety are replaced with Mania. In this state, I have destroyed friendships, ruined my life, had my identity stolen, started doing dangerous things. The list of things I’m capable of are endless.

While Manic I do not take the emotions of others seriously. I do not care about anything but what will give me my next thrill. For you see, me being happy is deadly. Of course its hard to explain that to others, especially well meaning people. Even worse when I suffer a serious depressive bout and those near me recommend I focus on the positive. But I know where that tunnel leads and its even worse than the dark state of mind I feel trapped in normally.

The Positive:

Well, I want to move passed all the bad and focus on the good. Let’s do that.

Last week, I didn’t get to play Pokemon at all. I managed to get some playtime in this week so look forward to more of the adventure. However, I have been hard at work and earning money to dig myself out of debt. Probably the most important and positive thing happening in my life right now.

Anime:

Re: Zero continues to be the main attraction of my Anime Watches. Truly this show is an absolute spectacle. But Fire Force, Misfit of Demon King Academy, and The God of High School are also puling their weight. Oh and a Certain Scientific Railgun is airing again.

SMT:

Since I have not beaten HeartGold yet, no Persona 4 either. However, Nocturne had an amazing announcement for me. Even more memes will be made in 2021. Nocturne will be featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series. And in HD!

Dungeons and Dragons:

Moving on, only one of my Dungeons and Dragons Sessions happened this week. And its the campaign not getting turned into a book series. However, that doesn’t mean that nothing important happened. The group fought off hordes of Undead and tried in vain to catch a now fallen Paladin.

She got away though, and the group experienced some sort of surreal sensation as they exited the chamber and found themselves outside. But they had gone through an entire dungeon to reach that back room. What is happening in this setting?

Things only got stranger when they took on their next mission. A house that was clearly haunted poses a new challenge for the group. Enchanted Brooms, Aggressive Candles. Things are not looking so great for them.

Nuzlocke:

Anyway, after a whole lot of missing blog post last week, its time to get to the most anticipated part of the article. Its Nuzlocke time. You should check out my Twitch Channel where this story plays out in real time.

Heartgold Randomizer Part 15:

I set out for the sea routes south of Olivine City and fished up Z the Palkia on Route 40. Foolish of Giritina to banish me to this strange world of Johto. Once again I hold a force of reality in my hand. I saw a lighthouse and sent my new toy out against these weak fools.

Finally I reached Jasmine the Gym Leader. She didn’t want to battle in the lighthouse. She was far too focused on helping out a sick Pokemon. I decided to ignore her for now and go elsewhere.

As I continued my way through Routes 40 and 41, I got swarmed by Uxie and Moltress. This ocean was filled to the brim with legendary Pokemon. How fortunate for my allies who were in need of levels.

Heartgold Randomizer Part 16:

Eventually I made it to Cianwood City and found a silly man who had been robbed by a red haired man. Knowing that Sylva was the culprit I got rewarded with a free Electrike named Shuckie. A silly name from a weak trainer.

I also fished up Col. Spark the Jolteon nearby and had a run in with Eucine. This idiot challenged me to a battle and I showed him what the legends he sought were capable of. Too many weaklings. I guess the dangerous trainers hung out near the first couple towns.

Chuck, however was not weak at all. The 5th Gym Leader made a Fighting Dojo his lair and meditated under a waterfall. When I finally faced him, he sent out a Machamp and Torterra. Clearly this was no trainer to underestimate.

Heartgold Randomizer Part 17:

After besting him and claiming my 5th badge, I found a Secretpotion which is def not the same one that Cynthia gave me in Sinnoh. Armed with this item and the ability to finally fly, thanks to HM2 gifted my way, I returned to Olivine City.

Though I had made use of it extensively, I had forgotten to use Surf in Cherrygrove City. I smiled as I was rewarded with Pink Blob the Happiny and the vast amount of experience such a lair of this creature contained.

Remembering that I had a potion to save a certain Pokemon, I climbed back up the lighthouse and did Jasmine a favor as promised. She returned to her Gym, and I did not follow immediately. I remembered from my last adventure how powerful she was.

Finally, I did choose to exit the lighthouse and got a phone call from a strange man. He told me that there was a Safari Zone now open just west of Cianwood City. Such a place had not existed in the other Johto. Curiosity got the better of me and I set off to explore.

Heartgold Randomizer Part 18:

I first entered Route 47 but before I met any Pokemon I stepped into Cliff Cave. Regretting my life choices for a moment, I encountered This Sucks, the Wurmple. Next I stepped back onto the route and found Moody the Bibarel.

Route 48 stood between me and the Safari Zone. I caught 2Hit the Ambipom in a nearby field. So far this detour was disappointing.

But I stepped into the Safari Zone anyway and started catching Pokemon. Several things joined my collection. Some Pokemon are better than others and not all Pokemon are created equal.

Here is the full list: Pinkman the Magnemite, Soon… the Farfetche’d, Rip Europe the Rattata, Ginja Bane the Paras, Dirt the Sunkern, and Bird Jesus the Pidgey. You know what, this detour mostly sucked.

Heartgold Randomizer Part 19:

Refusing to give up since I wanted to escape this realm with the power over space after all, I returned to Mount Mortar and proceeded to Mahogany Town. This place of Ninjas would have been suspicious to me under normal circumstances, but in my last adventure here Team Rocket had set up shop.

Strangely, I could have sworn I saw an antenna near that very same shop. Curiously I ignored it and headed north towards the Lake of Rage. I found Anti Rotom the Shellos along the way on Route 43.

Remembering the mug gate with a couple Team Rocket thugs, I skipped through some fields and battled all along the way. Finally I reached the lake and saw something glitter in the water. First I caught Green Fox the Leafeon and then went for the shiny thing in the water.

Unfortunately, rather than a Red Gyarados, I was forced to catch Shiny Pest the Parasect. Such a waste At least I attracted the attention of a man with a cape. Who even wears those? Well I knew who. This was Lance. Would he be a Dragon Master in this world? Who knew.

When I spoke to him, he claimed that Team Rocket had a hideout nearby. I probably should have been surprised by this startling revelation. Certainly the child I was currently possessing would have been shocked. But after traveling between dimensions multiple times, and enslaving multiple Pokemon that could warp reality, Team Rocket was small fry.

Heartgold Randomizer Part 20:

Still I followed. If nothing else, I could munch on the grunts and their weak Pokemon for free experience and could mug them for money after. Had to be careful of course as none of these things were the behaviors of a normal 10 year old girl.

Charging after Lance into the Rocket Hideout and intentionally set off multiple cameras. The Rocket Grunts might have thought they were repelling a foolish intruder. But really, I wanted their money so every time I showed myself on camera they rushed at me like the loot pinatas that they were.

However, this strange Entropy Johto had some new surprises for me. The Rocket Grunts claimed that they had traps that would explode if I ran into them. I called their bluff and instead got swarmed by Mewtwo and Raiku. Explosions made sense for Team Rocket given their counterpart’s love for terrorism in Sinnoh. Legendary Pokemon though? That was strange. At least I have another Freiza.

Heartgold Randomizer Part 21:

I dove deeper into the Team Rocket Hideout and eventually met Rocket Executive Petrel who used Bronzor, Wailord, and a Male Nidoran. Not so strong. Armed with a password, I opened the door to the Rocket Hideout Power Source and got ambushed by Executive Ariana.

Lance joined me in battle against her and used a Cherrim which is not a Dragonite. Meanwhile, Ariana used Spoink, Floatzel, and Teddiursa. All and all this was a disappointing battle.

However, for such a weak Team, Team Rocket sure had managed to keep a goldmine of rare Pokemon. Their generator was powered with the life essence of Manaphy. Most people don’t even think this Pokemon exists. What was Team Rocket doing having 6 of these things sitting around?

Heartgold Randomizer Part 22:

Lance thanked me for helping him save the day. I bit my tongue rather than reveal that I was much more dangerous than Team Rocket. I distracted myself by walking into the next Pokemon Gym, ready to claim some names.

Pryce was the next Gym Leader and kept himself holed up in an ice filled Gym. However his team didn’t have any cold Pokemon. Instead he used Vulpix, Snorlax, and Igglybuff. One of these Pokemon is not like the others. And it posed a much greater threat than the other two.

Armed with six badges, I decided to go clash with Jasmine and claim a seventh. There were no trainers standing between she and I. So we battled like gentleman and… oh who am I kidding. I used Z and crushed her team. She used Anorith, Sharpedo, and Rotom. Despite using one of my favorite Pokemon, she was no match for me.

As I stepped out of her gym, the Johto Professor told me that Team Rocket had taken over the airwaves. Curious, I flew to Goldenrod City to see what was going on. I took a break at the Pokemon Center ready to force another child to take on organized crime.

Wrap Up:

I have kept myself busy with my job. In fact, I almost didn’t get to write this post at all. Strangely, I can’t say that’s a bad thing. Look forward to my next post in hopefully less than a week.
