Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Veterans Memorial Park Titusville
I returned to Titusville and continued looking around the large cluster of parks right by downtown. Veterans Memorial Park Titusville was my next stop. Although the park is really just Veterans Memorial, I am adding Titusville to it to differentiate it from any other similar park I visit in the future.
As I entered Veterans Memorial Park Titusville, I was taken aback by the scenery. This was just like my experience at the nearby Space View Park the week before. I highly recommend a trip to this area. The Kennedy Space Center is not the only draw of Titusville.
The path to the actual memorial was quite serene. The only thing distracting from a truly breathtaking experience, was the water. Still polluted, the Indian River pictured above still has a repugnant odor. This is truly a shame. We have an obligation to protect these valuable environments.
I reached the physical memorial. I was not the only one visiting Veterans Memorial Park Titusville and limited my picture taking here out of respect for the other visitors. Funny enough, I was not the only one playing Pokemon Go either. But I will take about that more in its own section.
Every memorial around the United States as well as the world is worth a visit. This one happens to be in a beautiful location as well. Apparently this is a prime spot to watch rocket launches too. Though I was here during the day and cannot attest to the truth of this statement.
In Need of Repairs:
Sadly, where one finds beauty, destruction tends to be close by. Though it appears to be the Atlantic Ocean, Veterans Memorial Park Titusville actually sits on the Indian River. The hurricanes last year left this region devastated. Indeed, as I talked about in a past post many areas of Titusville still have not been repaired.
This is truly a shame. There appear to have been some beautiful piers that have simply been left to crumble. Though the smell of the water might have deterred me from going that far out at the moment, I am certain that the clean up efforts would also eliminate the pollution.
One day I want to return to Titusville and see everything as it once was. These beautiful areas simply should not be abandoned. Apathy and disrepair only serve to destroy these amazing landmarks.
Pokemon Go:
Though it might seem a bit in poor taste to say this, Veterans Memorial Park Titusville is a great place to play Pokemon Go. As I mentioned earlier, there were others playing here besides me. The Pokestops are plentiful for such a small area as well. But if that was not enough, this park is also a nest.
There are many parks in this area of Titusville and I intend to explore them all. I hope they all prove to be as incredible as these first two.
