Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Moss Park
After recovering from the modern plague, I finally got a chance to explore another park. I selected Moss Park for this next adventure.
Moss Park is a bit larger than the last couple places I explored. Naturally that means far more pictures than before. But the pictures alone don’t really do this one justice. From greenery to a fully painted basketball court, I knew this was gonna be a neat park.
I was one of the only people visiting the park when I took these pictures. It was nice to get almost every angle of some of these spots. Usually I have to avoid playgrounds and some of the open areas to avoid getting people who did not consent onto the blog.
Moss Park is divided into three distinct parts. The first was the basketball court and playground which I already mentioned above. But I got a chance to add a few more photos to those spots. The second area was a bit more interesting since it used a common and maligned terrain feature to its advantage.
Many people do not like being around power lines. Yet the space created around them allows plenty of room for green fields like this one. Maybe we need more parks near them. I understand people are afraid of a wire setting a fire or whatnot. But the engineers who build these power lines know what they are doing.
Moss Park has a hidden third section that I almost missed. Down a little path and into the woods and this little creek we find. Ignoring how strange that last sentence sounds, this was my favorite spot in the entire park. A shame that several insects felt the same.
I didn’t stay here long because I didn’t want the mosquitos feasting on my blood to continue uninterrupted, but the place is pretty. Next time maybe I’ll bring some stuff to keep the creepy crawlies off me. They can get the blood and flesh of some other poor sap.
Forgetting the bugs, I’m a fan of a wooded areas with little creeks. There is a reason I hike so many trails. Then again its also what I associate with my childhood. I’m from northeastern Illinois which was at one point a swamp with some open grassland. A few parks in my travel blog from up there showcase this fairly well.
So how does Moss Park measure up in Pokémon Go? Fantastic if I am being honest. There were tons of spawns. Three Pokestops and a gym too. This spot is a nest too. While visiting it was Magnemite spawning everywhere. The Electabuzz was due to an event going on in game at the time.
This park has a lot to see in the real world. And Pokémon Go compliments things nicely. This is a park to check out. No matter the reason.
I hatched a Bunnelby while exploring Moss Park. And that is all I will say on that.
Axew is still my buddy despite how I keep saying its near the end of them joining me. Relatively speaking its true. But I still have to walk roughly another 100 Kilometers with the Pokémon before I have enough candies to evolve him. But now that I am back exploring, it won’t be too long before I pass that number.
I’m not gonna lie. That smile is 100 percent genuine. After being trapped in my house for so long due to Covid it was amazing to be outside exploring again. I’ll be out and about more to help my lungs recover. Look forward to plenty of new content.
