Surviving the Felon: Week of 10/18/2025
I’m back with another instalment of Surviving the Felon. October is flying by fast and spooky season along with it. Have not really gotten to enjoy the true spooky season cause American Fascism is just so terrifying. There have been weeks where I have been kept up at night afraid and hate it. For all my talks of not letting fear win, I have certainly been close to failing my own objective.
Yet I have not fallen completely. And each time fear starts dancing around in my head, hope comes back to kick it to the curb. This week that hope was much more potent. After all, there were community oriented protests and I didn’t miss my chance to take part in a second even more historical protest than the first time around.
We must maintain a strong community as we watch The Felon and his minions start taking shots at each other. Just like every other instance of Fascism, the leaders of this movement don’t like to share. They are already clashing over their own fears and hopes. And so long as they collide with one another, the rest of us cane remain safer than it might seem possible. We can win. We just have to play a long game to reach victory.
The Bad
While the news tries to control what we are worried about, don’t forget to learn more about the Heritage Foundation, Peter Thiel, and Curtis Yarvin. These are our real enemies, alongside The Window Shover of course. I’m putting this at the start of The Bad Section because I feel like this is by far the most important thing to get out of the negative.
As before I’ll be listing the bad as a list. This is the least important part of this post and the section I want to move past as quickly as possible. Here we go:
Ice antagonizing cities around the country, The Felon targeting people who speak out against him, everything involving Israel and Gaza, Government Shutdown, Soldiers not being paid, Healthcare costs skyrocketing, CDC Mass Layoffs, Nonsense about Autism, Supreme Court Terrible Rulings, Gerrymandering in Red States intensifying.
The Good
Well we made it past the bad and quickly at that. Instead let’s focus on the good instead. First and most importantly let’s talk about the second round of No King’s Protests. Last time I was in downtown Orlando and participated in a large scale movement. This time I joined a group much closer to home in Lake Mary and got to engage with my immediate community. Whenever anyone says that peaceful protests are useless, we should counter that sentiment with the idea that peaceful protests brings communities together and makes them stronger against tyranny.
The peaceful protests were a wonderful thing, but there was plenty more good to go around. The cities where Ice has been striking has been pushed back not by violence, but by people in costumes. I can think of nothing better than fighting fear mongers with culture and laughter. I think a lot about how Mel Brooks write countless movies that existed to mock and ridicule Nazi ideology. And it appears to be working just as well now as before.
Outside of the United States, protests and Government overthrows even have featured a certain Jolly Roger. I have talked about my journey with One Piece quite a bit on this blog and I’ll be talking about that Anime in its respective section. But for the purposes of this section, I want to highlight how art can lead the way and inspire people to make the world better. Never underestimate fiction and its power to shape reality. For good or ill.
Transition
Well the political part of this blog is located above this section. Everything below will be moving away from that topic and focusing inward on my life and what I’m doing to preserve my energy. With a world where flooding the zone and social media combine to make us feel exhausted all the time we have to what we can to protect our lights. If that means focusing on hobbies as much as possible do what you need to. Writing this blog every week is one of my tools to cope.
And as always, this blog exists to help bring people together and to inspire good. One of the ways I do so is by sharing the art in its many forms that brought smiles to my face. I always provide links to the things that bring me joy. If you are reading this blog and feel hard pressed for smiles, don’t forget to click links to learn about the topics I’ll be bringing up in the rest of the sections. You might discover and new passion for a topic you never heard of!
Workouts
Well I am most certainly failing at maintaining this workout habit. And unlike the fake out last week I mean it this time. I didn’t go on a hike for a good reason though. I was at the No Kings Protests in that same time of the week where I would have gone for a walk. And while I might need improvement, I did make an effort to play with my cat a lot more this week. So at least he is getting plenty of play time and exercise. Let’s see if next week it can be my turn.
Video Games
The weather in Florida can’t decide whether its summer or fall. This week it went back to hot summer and being outside was a bit risker. Thus I got some video game time in. Notably with a new game and a Switch 2 to go with it. That game is Pokémon Legends Z-A. And despite all the negativity online, I’m having a blast playing this game so far. I have always wanted an urban Pokémon Game and a certain rare variant of a Pokémon that was teased long ago when X and Y first were released is at long last catchable in the series.
Genshin Impact patch 6.1 will be coming out this next week and I’m looking forward to seeing how the main story progresses. As I have mentioned several times on this blog, the story beats now are parts of the game I have been waiting for since they were first teased all the way back in 2020 during Covid and my last weekly update blog.
The other game I played this week is a blast from the not so long ago past. Several of my friends decided to play Baldur’s Gate 3 with me and I continue to enjoy watching them experience so much of the story and gameplay for the first time. Every playthrough is different and it makes each experience more memorable than the last. What an incredible game.
Pokémon Go:
I didn’t go on a seven mile hike for my travel blog this week. But I was busy with a civic duty. But not to worry, I’ll be back to exploring the world soon. Maybe even next week if the weather cooperates with me. I know where I’ll be headed and this trail is taking me into places I have never seen before. How exciting!
Between Raid Hour and Rayquaza Mega Raid Day, Pokémon Go kept me busy. The level cap was increased this week and so there are lots of new challenges in the game to slow down level progression. I didn’t quite make it to level 50. But I will be making it to 80 before they up the level cap again. I swear it.
I didn’t get to play in a tournament match this week, but that is to be expected after I lost all my matches last week. Instead I spent this week watching my teammates play, practicing in scrimmage matches, and of course battling in good old GBL. I learned that I am able to stream my matches without crashing my phone and so I’ll be having my teammates help me improve.
Anime and Shows
The fall season continues and with three great shows to keep me entertained. To Your Eternity, Gachiakuta and Spy x Family are what I am watching. Each great choices to watch for different reasons. But as incredible as Gachiakuta was this week, its not the one I’m picking for the best one this time.
Instead that goes to To Your Eternity and quite frankly you might be seeing that as the best one each way as it airs. It was one of my favorite shows and near my top 10 favorite Anime of all time the last few seasons and this one is no different.
I watched another episode of Lord of Mysteries as well. I need to give myself extra time free of distractions whenever I watch the show. Every frame matters and the story is extremely complicated with some characters with several different personas that I have to keep track of. That makes the show great because it doesn’t hand hold. But I need to be in the right frame of mind to truly enjoy it.
One Piece meanwhile continues in Dressrosa for me. And while I still have a long way to go to catch up to the newest episodes, I’m pleased that I finally committed to the show over the last year or so. Anyway I want to break one of my blog rules and talk about politics for a moment here. Specifically how people around the world are using The Straw Hats as a rallying cry for justice against oppression. Its what Luffy would want. He would love that people are using his symbol to fight for a better world.
Dungeons & Dragons
Unfortunately this is week 2 of three of taking a break from my Centrum Glacies Campaign. Real life calls several of players and I don’t run the sessions unless everyone is able to come. Its fair for everyone that way. And I don’t have to fear people walking away. This group enjoys my storytelling and want to know what is happening.
Writing and Editing
I noticed as I was reviewing last week’s blog that I made a mistake and linked the wrong novel that I was working on. I’ll leave the mistake there as these things happen and I own up to those sorts of mistakes. The story I am working on this week, and also wrote last week was my fifth Search for Eden Novel.
Angels, Demons, and worse are clashing and the stakes have never been higher in any of my stories. But I’m also looking forward to taking the power a bit back once I finish this novel. These are some of the most powerful characters I have ever created and their clashes get a bit convoluted at times.
Reading
This week was another reading adventure. Partially due to receiving more Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic to read but also looking for even more stories to read. Specifically I checked out the next Urek Mazino chapter and am sad that I’ll only get to check out a few of these a week. Then again that makes this entertaining story that much more fun. When I had finished the other two and needed something else to read, I once again turned to The God of High School. I’m still at the beginning of that one though. Once I finish the other two, I’ll be focusing on this one fully until its finished.
Wrap Up
The Felon has failed to steal spooky season from me despite his best efforts. Don’t let him take it from you. After all, a Rapist, Pedophile, Terrorist, and of course Felon is not even worth the mud on the bottom of your shoe after you accidently stepped in dog poop. Don’t let The Felon live rent free in your head. Ignoring him hurts him in a way that only makes sense to those with dark triad personality traits.
Instead we should be focusing on what makes us smile. Art in all its forms gives us reason for being. And it combats the corrosive will of Capitalism that turns what should be granted as baseline simply for living into commodities that we are charged for. We can make a better world where we don’t have to be compared to animals. There is no reason besides peer pressure from dead people that everyone needs to be forced to work simply to survive.
We can thrive in a better world. One where our hearts beat as one while drowning out the wicked beliefs of The Felon and those like him. The future can be a bright place even if the present seems bleak. We will resist The Felon together. There are no kings in the United States. The Government is our servants. Not the other way around.
As a reward for making it to the end, here is a picture of my adorable cat.
