Surviving the Felon: Week of 8/17/2025

I’m back with another instalment of Surviving the Felon. It’s weird to admit, but I actually feel more hopeful than ever that all the horrible things happening right now are about to come crashing down. The infighting has started and everyone else who never wanted all of this is starting to stand against it in a much more visible way.

What I mean to say is that this August has already been a whirlwind. And not just because the incredibly powerful Hurricane Erin is heading closer to the US coast. Though as hurricane season intensifies, there likely will be something to test all the horrible policies that The Felon has put into place so far. Even with all the terrible stuff happening, I have a strange sense of renewed hope.

Naturally what The Felon does not want as his power weakens is for people to continue waking up and feel empowered. We won’t let him have that dictatorship he wants so badly now will we? Not when he is a felon, domestic terrorist, rapist, and pedophile certainly. Every day is another one closer to his stench being gone from the earth and a chance for us to create a better future.

The Bad

While the news tries to control what we are worried about, don’t forget to learn more about the Heritage FoundationPeter Thiel, and Curtis Yarvin. These are our real enemies, alongside The Window Shover of course. I’m putting this at the start of The Bad Section because I feel like this is by far the most important thing to get out of the negative.

Well, let’s get the negative out of the way. The economy continues to get worse and even with me feeling better mentally, the fact that I won’t be able to raise a family or own a house continues to be a real possibility. Naturally I’m not the only one effected. Who knows how long it will take for the United States to recover from spurring its allies and siding with its enemies. Even when we get rid of The Felon, it will be hard for the rest of the world to trust the country that let him into power not once but twice.

The Closeted Heel Man finds new ways each week to make Florida worse. Naturally he is sucking up to The Felon. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is in the Epstein Files at this point. It seems to be a requirement to be a pedophile if you want a position of power in the Republican Party. Perhaps its easy to keep them under control that way? The Window Shover seems to think so.

And speaking of The Window Shover, he just met with The Felon. And whenever the professional ass kissers are scared of whatever happened during that meeting, the rest of us should be that much more afraid. We might find out soon what happened, but what would be worse is if we don’t any time soon.

And lest we forget, there are still concentration camps being filled. Not only with immigrants anymore, but homeless people too. The 13th Amendment did not get rid of slavery. It simply changed how one becomes enslaved. And the prison industrial complex will not get those slaves themselves after all.

The Good

Well, we made it through some of the bad. There certainly is more, but I refuse to focus on it for another minute. Instead I want to talk about Gavin Newsom’s social media team. It turns out that bullies don’t like when you treat them the same way they treat us. And so those of us who are sane and moral need to see more of this. I hope that The Felon is constantly thinking about others taking away his power. The last thing he deserves is a chance to rest.

Speaking of rest, nature is closing in on The Felon. He’s getting old, frail, and senile. Even his handlers are having trouble hiding it now. Very rarely do those in power admit when their figurehead is sick. It threatens to undermine their entire system. And mark my words, The Felon’s system is breaking apart. And not just because moral people are standing up to him, but because he is harming immoral people too.

The fastest way to break Fascism apart is to get the leaders of it to fight each other. And by creating a ton of obstacles to their rule, we make that more likely. And so I also need to give props to JB Pritzker and all the work he is doing in Illinois to remind The Felon that the places that hate him are powerful and ready to take him down.

Transition

The political part of the blog is now above here. Now its time for me to turn inward and reflect on what made me smile this week. After a few tough weeks, I’m feeling pretty good right now. Even as all the evil happens around me, I’m finding more and more reasons to find light and hope. Perhaps as the summer heat wanes, I’ll find even more positive things to reflect on.

All in all, the thing I feel most lacking at the moment is interacting with people outside of work. You might notice a lot of my hobbies at the moment involve me staying inside. And while I can use social media and voice channels to talk to friends and family, its still not the same as real human interaction. Another reason among many that I am ready for the summer to end and my favorite time of the year to happen.

Workouts

My numbers for the week are still a bit low as I get my body used to working out several times a week. But all effort is a step in the right direction. For this week I did 20 pushups, 20 squats, 20 crunches, and most importantly, a 20 minute run. I’m using the number 20 as a guideline when I start increasing what I do. Its easier for me to do something consistently when I have something easy to remind myself what I’m doing.

I can do almost all of these workouts at home. Only the running has to be done at my apartment gym or outside once the weather allows. I’ll be making use of the treadmill to get my stamina back before I go for proper runs outside. Once I’m feeling properly ready, I’ll start bringing leg day into the equation.

But don’t forget, I work outside and get plenty of steps in at my job. According to Pokémon Go, I walk on average 5 Kilometers a day. That’s a little more than 3 Miles for my friends who still are using an outdated measuring system.

Video Games

Don’t let the short workouts mentioned above fool you. A lot of my free time is still being dedicated to video gaming. But before I go into what games I played this week, I do want to point out that I draw a lot of inspiration for my writing from the media I consume and video games are no different. This time around I’m playing Expedition 33 which continues to wow me with its fantastic story, gameplay, and soundtrack. I’ll be a bit upset if this game doesn’t get game of the year.

I’m reaching the tail end of exploring the new area in Genshin Impact but that is fine by me. In a few weeks I won’t just have one extra map to explore, but several of them. Nod Krai is coming and with all the hints being dropped lore wise, I can’t wait to explore this new region and consume all the story beats that will come with it. I’m seeing signs of Russian Folklore and when it comes to fairies, nobody quite does terror like Russia does.

I’m also playing more Elden Ring to the surprise of absolutely no one. Story deep dives have given me yet another reason to continue playing this game. Learning the lore of this game is like being an archeologist and pruning through every item description, enemy location, and the dialogue itself to try and understand the greater narrative. And as a writer and world builder, few things are more immersive to me than that.

Pokémon Go

The summer is still here and its unrelenting heat never-ending. And so I will not be going on hikes until that changes. At least I’m doing workouts to make up for the fact that I can’t explore with Pokémon Go. In a few more months that will change and I’ll be adding those long hikes to my already better mental health. Physical activity is welcome, especially outside of work.

PvP continues to be a struggle. At this point I’m not going for Veteran and simply farming Stardust to be ready for the next season. A lot of move changes are coming and while they were just announced last night, I will be depending on better number crunchers than myself to explain the costs and benefits. And most importantly, which Pokémon will be worth building that were not worth using before.

Anime and Shows

The stacked summer Anime Season continues and this week I’m caught up on all my shows. My Dress Up DarlingKaiju No. 8, DandadanRising of the Shield HeroCall of the Night Dr. Stone and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt were almost all set up episodes for bigger hits next week.

But not all of them. For this week, my favorite episode was from Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt since unlike the rest of the shows this week, this one had a high stakes episode that introduced new characters that I’m certain will be returning soon and posing a big problem for the setting.

Unfortunately, this stacked Anime season prevented me from watching One Piece. But I’ll make a greater effort to watch the show this week. I’m certain that I’ll be rewarded with more of what makes this show so special to so many people.

Dungeons & Dragons

As promised, I ran another combat heavy session of my Centrum Glacies Campaign. There were a few story beats along the way, but the party still has several more dungeon crawling sessions involving combat before more heavy story focus. And there is nothing wrong with mixing things up a bit.

If you want to read what happened during that session, combat, and story beats, you can read that here.

Writing and Editing

I thought I was done writing the somber moments in my newest Search for Eden Novel but I was wrong. I still have a little bit to go before I can finally get to the first major clash of this novel. With so much setup riding on how these next couple sections perform, I’m a little scared to write it. Even though its a first draft and will never be the best possible story, I still want to do three books of story justice. Its a little weird since everything in this story is from me alone. But I care about this setting and the characters in it.

Not to mention that as an arc ending novel, not every character will survive this book. In fact over the next several chapters, many characters will be meeting a cruel end or worse. After all, they are about to confront a powerful Dragon who has served as a supporting antagonist for the last three books. And she has already killed a couple important characters and affected the lives of the survivors. The stakes could not be higher for those characters involved.

Reading

This week, I read more of The Secret Commonwealth. I’m enjoying this book from the get go a lot more than the last book. Then again the first The Book of Dust novel had an incredible second half. Some revelations in this book change a few things I read in the original series. I wonder if this second series of His Dark Materials was always planned?

Wrap Up

Another week of August has come and gone. And despite the overwhelming dread in the air, I actually have some renewed hope. Perhaps its because of the workouts giving me that much needed dopamine rush. Regardless of why, even though several rights seem to be up on the chopping block, its clear that people are fighting back. And not just loud voices on the internet, but direct action in the streets.

Writing this blog and helping people find their light and hope is doing my part in resisting The Felon and his wicked followers. Don’t forget that he has handlers like The Window Shover that we have to be ready to deal with too. But one step at a time. We must continue Surviving the Felon and then we can focus on other dangers.

For me, and I hope many others, one of the greatest ways to bring light to a darkening world, is to create art. We can’t let Capitalism and its green line must go up ideology stop us from creating. Not everything we do in life should be in the pursuit of capital. Science and Math explain how the world works, but Art gives us a reason to care about the world enough to want to learn about it. The importance of the arts transcends Capitalism.

Don’t hate those that have chosen that green line go up is the entire life. Pity them instead. They have rejected joy for the sake of the illusion of material greatness. We all have one life to live and what we leave behind to make this world a better place than we found it helps make the future brighter. And so we will all Survive the Felon together as one unified heartbeat. We can be our better selves each week and compound interest on self improvement.

Here is a picture of a sleepy kitty to make you a smile a bit more than before.
