Surviving the Felon: Week of 1/24/2026
I’m back with another instalment of Surviving the Felon. I wish that there was more good to talk about, but this January has been a nightmare. Its clear that the Felon and his puppet masters are speed running the destruction of the United States. And I’m past the point of even being able to cry about all the horror happening every day.
Still, somehow through all this darkness we cannot succumb and give up. Failure to stand up in whatever way we can will only make it easier for what is to come to kill many more innocent people. That isn’t to say things are not already bad. Innocent people are being killed while the criminals committing these murders are getting off completely free. And the psychopaths behind all this will only find more extreme ways to hurt us. Which means for us to make it through, we must come up with increasingly more clever ways to stand up to them.
Fascism is taking more and more of our rights away. And in its wake it is leaving a populace that is ever increasingly afraid to stand up for what is right. I have worried for a while that this blog will one day get me into trouble. Fascists do not like being criticized. And yet, just like those who protest despite the risks, I will continue to write this blog every week. And may I outlive Fascism and watch those currently in power tear each other apart. May all who read this see that day and soon.
The Bad
While the news tries to control what we are worried about, don’t forget to learn more about the Heritage Foundation, Peter Thiel, and Curtis Yarvin. These are our real enemies, alongside The Window Shover of course. I’m putting this at the start of The Bad Section because I feel like this is by far the most important thing to get out of the negative.
An ordered list seems to be the best way to get through this section and so I’ll continue doing so. Negativity is the news’s specialty. And I want to focus on resisting and the positivity. But those bad things cannot be ignored. Giving it the least thought and fewest words is a proper compromise.
Everything ICE is doing in a city near you which includes the terrorism and murder in Minneapolis, The cover up of ICE’s Terrorism by the FBI, Healthcare Costs going way up, Food Stamps running out, Genocide in Sudan, Conflict in the Middle East, The Felon investigating political enemies, The realization that our world is run by pedophiles, Rising Antisemitism, Attacks against Jews being used to fuel blood libel and conspiracy theories, threats of violence against politicians who don’t obey The Felon, the Military being forced to obey illegal orders, Rising Tensions between Japan and China, The Redacted Epstein Files, Rising Tensions between the United States and Europe
The Good
Well, let’s move past all the horrible things happening for just a moment. I want to start by mentioning something I didn’t think would happen as I was writing the section above this one. Some of the items on the list were deleted from last week. A kind reminder that while certain things, specifically everything involving ICE has gotten much worse, some issues that had us worried in the past several weeks are no longer dangers. This too shall pass. Don’t go silently into the night. We need to stand up for what is right and create a future where the Good is much greater than the Bad.
Anyway, I want to again mention the Black Panther Party as well as the fact that there are other groups now banding together to stand up to this evil. If the government won’t protect us, then it will be up to the every day people who refuse for these atrocities to continue to stand up. Minnesota and what is happening there will be in the history books for decades to come. Now it is my hope that the people who live there will be the victors so that history will be accurate.
Meanwhile I want to commend Europe for standing up to the United States. Appeasement only empowers the aggressor. Do not give The Felon what he wants. Deny every one of his demands and instead punish him for his belligerence. If the United States continues to choose corruption, then it is high time that we are reprimanded for our choices. And in case you thought I was going to forget Iran, I have not. I hope that the people there continue to fight for a better future so that they can empower us in the United States to do the same.
Transition
The world is getting worse and worse seemingly. Especially here in the United States where we have been mostly fortunate that our government has been harming people in other countries for a while as opposed to us. The emotional and physical energy needed to keep up the fight in current times, now that those dynamics have changed can be easily exhausted. But that is why hobbies, especially those that involve art are so vital.
This blog has been a check in for my friends as well as one for myself. Last week I was in a dark place, but its really a testament to my resilience that I’m somehow feeling better this week. New Years is now in the past and I can focus on bettering my future. I’m still not where I want to be. And I’m sure my Depression will strike when I’m not ready to deal with my thoughts. Which is why those activities that bring me joy are so important.
Anyway, its time for this blog to turn inwards and reflect. I might have had to battle depression and anxiety this week, despair too in fact, but I still found plenty that brought me joy. I refuse to let the mainstream media define my emotions. I’ll fight towards a better me even if I face adversity in my personal life and the world around me. The Felon will not drag me down.
Workouts
This week, not only did I stick to my workout routine, but I accidentally added another day of workouts to it. That is not a habit I want to continue since my body will not be pleased if I cause too much stress to it. But its a sign that this habit is starting to stick since I went and did what I needed to without even thinking about it. Normalizing physical activity will only lead to a healthier and happy me.
Video Games
For this week, I actually was out more socializing with friends. But of course there is always time for video games in my life. And as I write this post, my game of choice is Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. I’m nearing the halfway point of the game and I’m enjoying it just as much now as I did when I was a kid. This game and its sequel had a large effect on my imagination. In fact as I’ll mention farther down in that section, these two games inspired the novel I’m writing. More about that when I reach that part.
As for other games I played this week, those included ones with friends, such as Civilization 7 and Baldur’s Gate 3. I’ll likely be playing more of those games over the coming weeks. There is a lot of different ways both can be played again and again that keep bringing me back. Playing with other people also helps me socialize even when I don’t want to leave the house.
Of course, I can’t forget to mention Genshin Impact. There are plenty of quests for me to complete and a map expansion that I am combing through slowly so that I can enjoy everything more. A game like Genshin I feel is played best by doing the content slowly throughout the patch. Doing everything all at once in a live service game is a recipe for burnout. And considering I have played every day since I started, this advice has kept me exploring the game without that happening.
Pokémon Go
This was a huge week for me in Pokémon Go. The main reason being that I leveled up. Its been a long time coming and I am sure that I will reach the next one much faster. Powering up Pokémon to their max level has always been a task that gives me trouble in this game due to constantly making new teams for PvP. And I had to max out three to reach this level. No such task exists for the next. In fact everything needed to advance further is something I passively do in the game already.

I got to go on an adventure this week too. Not where I planned though because that park was too crowded and I do my best to avoid getting people in pictures for my travel blog. Due to there being a farmers market, that would have been impossible. Instead I visited somewhere nearby just off the beaten path. You can read that post here.
A third week in a row and I volunteered to sit out again for my grassroots tournament league. I had a lot going on in my life especially emotionally. And taking a break was good for me. I’ll be ready to hit the ground running soon enough. And with practice in PvP comes more wins and victories that help me overcome some toxic gamer habits.
Anime and Shows
I continued watching the shows that includes some that started airing last week. That list may grow but for now, it includes: Sentenced to be a Hero, Frieren Beyond Journeys End, To Your Eternity, and Fire Force. I still have not started the new season of Oshi No Ko but that’s on the list. To Your Eternity had the best episode of the week in my opinion. This show is at its best when it does deep dives into the characters involved in the greater narrative. Which this week’s episode did non stop. I can’t wait for more.
I also started watching Clevatess at the urging of several friends. Its not at all what I expected which is a good thing. I am curious to know where a show with such a strange premise will go. but given that the first episode ended on a pretty wild cliffhanger, I’m wondering what else might be in store.
If you have been reading this blog consistently, you can probably guess what I am going to say in this paragraph. Yep, I’m still watching One Piece and slowly chipping away at Dressrosa. Slow and steady wins the race and I have been told countless times that the next few arcs will flow way better than this one. Its a shame because I genuinely am enjoying everything in this arc. Just not the pacing of it.
Dungeons & Dragons
I ran yet another combat heavy session in my Centrum Glacies Campaign. And like all my sessions, you can find a blog post about what happened. You can read that post here. Still, the group is almost out of the dungeon that has dominated the last several posts. And some serious story beats are coming. An arc is coming to an end too and I couldn’t be more excited.
Writing and Editing
I am continuing to write the first draft of my fifth Search for Eden Novel. I am going full speed ahead until I finish the book. Then I’ll turn my focus to other matters. This book serves as my first dive into proper science fiction and its taking a lot of time away from writing and towards research. And yet this isn’t a bad thing because I’m learning a lot about all sorts of topics and realizing more and more how little I actually understand.
This book as I mentioned earlier is also a love letter to two of my favorite video games. Those games are Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and Tales of Symphonia. And so explain why I am referencing them and in what ways spoils not only my own novels, but the stellar stories of those games. You should play them. But make sure to check out Path of Radiance before Radiant Dawn because its a sequel to the other.
Reading and Podcasts
I have continued listening to Behind the Bastards led by Robert Evans and learning about some truly horrible people. This week I learned about Vince McMahan and I’ll never look at professional wrestling the same ever again. Also I learned more about the United State’s dark and cruel history with oppressing the homeless. Spoiler alert: many of the problems today are the same ones that were used as an excuse to harm, innocent people back then.
Last week I promised that I would be reading something special, and I started that journey this week. That reading material is Claymore. As a dark fantasy series in the same vein as Berserk, it was a no brainer that I wanted to check this out. Especially since like many Manga, the Anime never adapted the entire story. I’m only a few issues in, but have the entire collection. There will be no pauses this time or frustrations with shipping.
Wrap Up
As we head towards the end of January, don’t forget to take a deep breath and let all that stress out. Its been a terrifying year so far. And what we are all seeing should serve as a warning and preview of what might happen next. Things are escalating fast, and so we need to be ready to stand firm against The Felon.
And outside of The Felon, Capitalism, The One World Order that Libertarians claim we need to fear while they worship it tries to reduce our lives to monetary value. It is up to us to build lives that stand in defiance of this. Art cannot be quantified by capital and that is why those in power continue to demonize it alongside Liberal Arts. Anything demonized by Fascists is something that we should all care about. Because anything they oppose is what will help bring them down.
Anyway, you know who also doesn’t understand art and sentimental stuff at all? The Felon. Let’s outlast him in 2026. As humans, let’s show love and light to those we care about. Those things are what make us better people. In fact its what makes us human. Our heartbeats are greater than anything he stands for. While he destroys, we rebuild. Our hearts craft beauty and wonder despite his parasitic presence. And we will only become stronger once he is no longer in our way. We will Survive The Felon together and unstoppable. ICE will melt and we will endure.

As a reward for making it to the end, here is a loafing cat.
