Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Lake Mary Crystal Gardens
After trying and failing to visit a much larger park due to a local event, I found Lake Mary Crystal Gardens nearby and decided that visiting in the Florida winter would be a unique adventure. I didn’t know this place was even here until I frantically looked for a nearby park. Let’s see how this unplanned adventure went.

Lake Mary Crystal Gardens is located a few blocks away from downtown Lake Mary, Florida. And I assume that during the spring and summer, there is a lot more to see. But when I visited, it was winter, and even though Florida doesn’t experience real winters, the plant life was less bright and vibrant. I also noticed that there was plenty of space for water, but it was empty all around the paths when I visited.
Since the plant life was not the center piece in winter, instead I focused on the rock formations and other features that made this place stand out. There were also a few corners with benches to relax. Lake Mary isn’t exactly a bustling city, but there is enough going on that quiet corners like this place are appreciated.
Pokémon Go

Lake Mary Crystal Gardens was less impressive in Pokémon Go. In fact, a lot of the park is not even coded as one in game. At least this region is within downtown Lake Mary which means even the worst spots will have plenty of spawns, even if the park itself is not a standout spot. Still, compared to parks in the middle of no where, or trails that lack Pokestops, this is a much better place to play. But there are other areas nearby this park that are much better. Specifically the park I wanted to check out. Maybe next time I’ll go there.

While walking around Lake Mary Crystal Gardens, I hatched a Goldeen. Not really exciting but its whatever.

Thanks to the lack of sun, I don’t accidentally look miserable on this adventure. The only thing that made me sad was that I couldn’t go with my original plans. Anyway, I had a good time exploring Lake Mary Crystal Gardens even if it wasn’t what I had originally planned. I might get a chance to explore that other park next time, or perhaps I’ll find somewhere new to explore?
