Cycle of Millennia 2022-23 Session 69: Caethia, Furavel, and Eleth
Here is week 69 of my 2022 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Cycle of Millennia. The party marches towards Kranaak, but three of his servants still stand in the way. Caethia, Furavel, and Eleth are all dangerous Demons and living legends that have all shaped modern history within the setting.
Don’t forget that this campaign has been ongoing for over four years. There is a lot of story to cover and I’m writing a book series to document it all. I am adapting this adventure into a book series. The first three are on Amazon.
!!!Trigger Warnings Abound!!!
This campaign takes place in an incredibly unpleasant setting. The party has dealt with Human Traffickers, Sex Slavery, Child Sacrifice, The Apocalypse, Genocide, Wicked Cults, and other related topics.
There is a God of Madness that is fond of causing auditory and visual hallucinations, makes use of psychic gaslighting, commands the literal legions of hell, and all around causes untold suffering in the setting.
Essentially, nothing is off the table in this campaign. If the above ideas are not ones you want to think about, I do not think this blog series is for you. That is not a problem and does not indicate any failings on your part. I am a storyteller that does not shy away from the darkest topics. It would be horrible for me to not warn my audiences of this in advance.
!!!Final Trigger Warning. Past this point there be dark topics!!!
Before the party could confront Kranaak and finally save Luna from the Demon possessing her, they had to fight through a small horde of lesser Demons. But these creatures were only lesser to a party that was reaching towards divine level. Any other adventurer group probably would have succumb to the cannon fodder.
Velkoara tried to fight several of the Demons off by herself to save time, but the creatures in their chaotic evil nature used her to bait her companions who were significantly less resistant to their spells. But the party fought through. They had several methods for removing even the most debilitating of magic at this point.
But there was one more major hurdle to pass before they could confront the Demon possessing Luna and save everyone from this crumbling reality. And unfortunately there were three of them. Though Eleth and Furavel had been bested when fighting the group on their own, Caethia had not. And now the group had to fight all three again.
Confronting the Demon Lords:
But even three of the most dangerous and legendary beings in the entire world couldn’t stop the party. There was too much to lose, especially for Grez. Or Wylf as the three Demons had no problem reminding him as they called him by his true name.
Hadron and Velkoara went straight for Caethia. She was after all the leader of them, not to mention her magic when she wasn’t playing stupid mind games, was by far the most dangerous. But even as mighty as the two were, she with Eleth’s help, bested them both. Not to the death at least, but as they fell weakened, Caethia moved them off to the side.
Grez went straight for Furavel. He had a vendetta against this one after all the times their battles had been cut short. Something that Caethia realized and found a way to have some of her own brand of twisted fun.
She split off a small section of Entropy’s cavern where Wylf could have an uninterrupted showdown with Furavel. At last they got their battle. Grez with his flurry of punches, and lightning charged attacks met Furavel and his countless weapons that did all sorts of things. Attacks such as draining spells and utility abilities away, addling the mind, healing him through bloodlust, and teleporting victims away temporarily.
Vendettas:
Meanwhile, Caic was left all alone to fight against Eleth. Though in prior engagements, she had been against messing around and had intended to kill all of them on sight, not this time. After all, the party had helped her claim the soul of one of the most powerful Dragons in the setting. What more could a Dragon slaying Demon ask for?
She made use of the fact that Caic feared Dragon breath to push terror to new levels. After all, one of the perks of being one of the original Berserker Knights was the ability to manipulate and warp space. An ability that she once more used to have her breath weapon move in ways that defied the laws of physics.
Unlike the other three, Grez eventually won out over his opponent. But both left that arena satisfied as they finally got their clash. God against Archdemon. What more could either of the combat obsessed men ask for?
As it turned out though, this battle was nothing more than Caethia doing her thing once more. She had promised the party that she and her two cohorts were actually allies. And as she stopped time, she proved her words true.
One Last Meeting:
With time stopped for the realm but not the party and their allies, the Demoness had them all gather quickly, while she explained how they were going to kill the Demon possessing Luna. It would involve breaking her down into more manageable pieces. With all the souls she had absorbed, that nameless Demon was too powerful even for a reality warping super Witch.
Even their enemies would help. Moshe, Thia, and Mirr were summoned to this meeting too. And hopefully they would play nice since they and their Gods had been defeated already. Thia at least was trustworthy enough to understand the situation. But would Moshe do his part? Too late to worry about that.
To Face Luna:
At long last, after some prep and lots of fights expected and unexpected, the group followed the cavern to its end and found the final obstacle standing between them and the end of this adventure. But before Caethia could help them, they would need to engage the Demon possessing Luna. And in her current form, even for them this was a suicidal attack.
They didn’t talk to her at all. There was nothing more to say. All that mattered was this final battle. And the party had no choice but to win.
But this fight did not start well. The Demon showed just how powerful she was by taking out Grez right on the word go. Her speed had increased again and what appeared like a single strike to a normal onlooker was closer to thirty different swings. And even a God in human guise could not stand up to that attack.
Luckily healing wasn’t blocked this time. And Grez got back on his feet ready to fight even more. But this wasn’t really the fight that the group had planned. Though the Demoness assuming that Caethia had abandoned them to die all played into this elaborate ruse.
Once more Caethia kept her word. And in the moment where the Demon possessing Luna cried victory, she was attacked. Her soul shattered into several pieces, reality even in this chaotic realm of Entropy couldn’t maintain itself. The group as well as Caethia, Furavel, and Eleth all found themselves dragged into a pocket dimension. All according to plan of course.
Wrap Up:
What will the party find in this pocket reality? The final battle has begun. The story has almost reached its epic conclusion.
