Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Washington Oaks Park

Admin/ February 23, 2023/ Central Florida, Florida, Travel, Video Games

For my next adventure, I went further south into residential Sanford, Florida and found Washington Oaks Park.

Washington Oaks Park has a different feel from the last few places I explored in Sanford. Its clear based on location and what one might find here that this green space is meant for those who live nearby. There are several different playgrounds to accommodate tons of kids using the space.

And where there are kids, parents are nearby. Benches are placed around the park so that the little ones can run around and the older ones can get some rest at the same time. Nothing ground breaking but I’m glad to see this pattern continue.

There are basketball courts here too. I love the idea of parks in a neighborhood where people of all ages can go hang out. Since I grew up with parks like that so it makes me glad that others can have that same experience.

I was a little disturbed by the vandalism warning signs. Though I saw nothing to clue me in on why that sign was posted, it makes me sad that people would try to deface public green spaces. It makes it harder to make new ones, or as the sign points out, update the current ones.

Pokémon Go:

Let’s take a look at Washington Oaks Park. As you can see, there is nothing in Pokémon Go except the dark green mark of a park. As this green space is set up for local kids living nearby, this is not the place to play Pokémon Go. Instead, I would recommend parks closer to downtown that are all walkable from each other and with plenty of stops along the way.

Zorua is back to steal your stuff while you are busy reading this blog post. But not for much longer. I almost have enough candy to evolve it into a sneakier fox.

Here I am, back at it again. There are a few parks nearby that I’ll be exploring next. Lots to see and do. I wish I had more free time to commit to exploring the world.
