Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Coast to Coast Trail 5
Back on the trail, I explored Coast to Coast Trail 5. This is the first section completely in Brevard County.
It was my birthday when I visited Coast to Coast Trail 5. This is the farthest spot yet from where I live. I woke up extra early despite my birthday to make sure I beat the sun.
You might notice there are a ton of pictures above. There are two reasons for this. The first is that like several of the posts leading up to this one, this segment of the trail travels through Florida swamps. As the pictures above showcase, it is beautiful scenery. But the pictures are able to tell a story that my words cannot. There are only so many ways to describe everything above without repeating words.
The second reason is due to a change in labeling in Brevard County. In Orange County, I found mile markers every 1/4 Mile. This trend continued in Seminole County. Meanwhile in Volusia County, Mile Markers dropped down to every 1/2 mile. Brevard cut that number down to less. Every mile there is a mile marker, and no less.
Mile Marker 3.0 still had me in the swamps. But there was a familiar sound on the wind. A herald of change was ahead and that meant a drastic change of scenery soon. though maybe not in time for this post.
Mile Marker 5.0:
You might notice that this section of Coast to Coast Trail 5 has a ton of pictures. You might also notice that the header above skipped a mile marker. That is not a mistake on my part. The mile marker at 4 just isn’t there. I guess I could have split the images better, but its my birthday while writing this and I think I have earned a break. Besides, I’m excited about the end of the endless swampland that this trail has followed for so long.
Its strange. I love swamps in my stories and have wanted to immerse myself in this environment so that I might better write about it. But staying safe and on the trail has caused me to write posts that feel the same over and over again. And for that reason I’m ready to visit something different. Which is soon since this trail is heading towards the coast.
Since Mile Marker 4 is nowhere to be found, we will settle for 5. there were a few sections where I could easily walk into the swamp water here if I so chose. But Alligator mating calls among other sounds made sure I knew even in the most impulsive part of my brain that this was only a fleeting thought. And a foolish one at that.
Near Interstate 95:
The final section of Coast to Coast Trail 5 has a more reasonable number of pictures in a single section. In fact it has the least number since the next mile marker is beyond where I stopped for the day. As you can see in the above image, a major landmark is on the horizon. If you live in Orlando, you will be forgiven for assuming that is Interstate 4. But remember that Interstate 4 goes across Florida from Dayton to Tampa in a south-west pattern. And I am not that far north or west.
That is actually Interstate 95. Remember I am heading south and east. I’m near the coast too. Interstate 95 is rarely far from the Atlantic Ocean. And as I draw close to the coast, the swamps will give way to urban areas since a majority of Floridians live near the coast.
Not too much else to talk about here that has not already been mentioned. But next time, I’ll be leaving the swamps behind and see new sights. I’m excited for what I’m about to step into.
Pokémon Go:
Coast to Coast Trail 5 follows the same patterns as the other parts as far as Pokémon Go is concerned. This is not the place. Even worse. This trailhead, pictured above doesn’t have any Pokestops or Gyms. However, things are about to change.
You can’t see it in this image, but just ahead there are two Pokestops along the trail. Now that I’m heading back into areas where lots of people live, I assume my Pokémon Go experience will improve. Make sure to keep up with my travels and see if I am proven right.
I hatched three eggs and normally I would be happy with Rufflet. But due to an event in the game, I actually caught a few at the Trailhead before I set out. Oh well. Every dud egg is one closer to a good one.
Today wasn’t just my birthday, its also the day Tirtouga evolved into a Carracosta. Though its adventures on this blog were short, the not so little anymore turtle had lots of fun. I’ll have a new buddy next time. And if you look carefully at the Pokémon Go post a few up, you might be able to see who it is.
It was my birthday when I traveled down Coast to Coast Trail 5 and it was a great start to my day. I only hope that I continue to love exploring the world with Pokémon Go.
