Centrum Glacies 2022 Session 37: Oath

Admin/ September 2, 2022/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Week 37 in 2022 of this Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies forces the party to fight a friend over an oath.

Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book series. However I’m still working on that project. Give it some time.

Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing once the book series starts hitting virtual and real shelves.

!!!Trigger Warning!!!

This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture.

Most recently one of the party members had an eye gouged out and lost an arm. Not exactly the way it happens in Berserk, but that might have been the inspiration for it. The group at large is currently succumbing to magical wounds that appear to be turning them into Demons.

!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!

Going deeper into the Abyssal Desert, the party fought off more basilisks and turned their stone gaze power against them. Both Malcolm and Teztcal had ways of creating mirrors to trick the creatures into killing themselves. And thus they neutralized what would have otherwise been a deadly threat.

But even with these tools in hand, they walked around the volcano in the middle. While the Cult of Obsidian was right there and with several members of the party wishing to clear them out, it was too dangerous to go near that much heat. Especially with the group realizing that fire was accelerating transformations in their bodies.

Teztcal led party to Dark Elf Village. Somehow he knew that it was the same village he lived in. A strange coincidence for sure. Unfortunately, they barely got to reconnect with their Dark Elf friends from the woods before more trouble appeared.

Cruel Battle:

Alin appeared and revealed that she followed party. Turned out that she didn’t buy their story at all and had grown suspicious. Malcolm asked her what she would do now that she had found this place. The party didn’t like her answer.

Turned out that Alin as all Paladins do had sworn an oath. A most one sided black and white oath. She would kill all Cult of Obsidian Members. Past, present, future? None of that mattered. She would kill them all.

When the group asked her to make an exception, she returned their request with one of her own. Would they be willing to make an exception? Her entire life had been dedicated to destroying the Cult. They had killed her family, friends, and town. Her entire reason for being alive was revenge. And even a Mythril Adventurer wouldn’t be able to stop her.

With their intent to fight and stop her, Allin showed a new trick. That same net she used to attack could also be used on herself. And it also changed into armor. She resisted all pain and became significantly more durable. Trent had wondered how she had become a Platinum Adventurer. But her demonstration here answered that question.

In fact the party was losing to her. Malcolm was trying to subdue rather than kill, but the others knew that the only way to stop her would be to strike her down. Something none wanted since unlike several of the other Platinum Adventurer’s she was not hostile until this moment.

As he did, the weather changed to snow and the sun faded behind clouds. It seemed that Alin wasn’t the only Platinum Adventurer that come after them.

Wrap Up:

But can the party in their weakened state deal with Zinbella too? Only luck got them out of their last few encounters with her.
