Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Wirz Park Trail Loop
Next to Wirz Park sits the Wirz Park Trail Loop. I do like exploring trails. Naturally I went to investigate.
The Wirz Park Trail Loop quickly took me far away from Wirz Park’s baseball fields and into a peaceful and serene nature walk. There was almost no one else on the trail which is a shame. Though it was a hot day, I didn’t let the sun dampen my spirits. I needed this walk. At the time I was dealing with some serious depression and made it a goal to be outside more.
There is plenty of space along the trail to take a rest or walk on green if the pavement starts to hurt feet. While this isn’t some deep in the woods hike, its still a nice change of pace for those who want to walk a bit and escape the noisy parks.
Around the Curve:
The next section of Wirz Park Trail Loop took me farther away from baseball and closer to the swamps that Florida is known for. Still, there were plenty of houses peeking over the nearby trees. It is fashionable to live near parks and trails. And why not. Imagine how good for health it is to walk a loop through the forest daily?
Given that the trail is a loop, several signs warned of the sharp curves ahead. Not really an issue when you are walking. But then again, this path connects to another bike trail. So biking here is probably common enough that such signs are needed.
While looking at the pictures, I noticed an airplane snuck into one of them. Not sure how I didn’t notice initially. Planes tend to be loud. There must be a landing strip nearby. That is a smaller plane and it was pretty low given how my camera on my phone could see it.
The Boardwalk:
The final section of Wirz Park Trail loop ended up being my favorite part of this adventure. While I have visited several boardwalk bridges while exploring Florida, this one extended a bit longer than normal. I got plenty of chances to look out at the marshes around me. And best of all, not too many mosquitos in the air.
So many unique animals make such places their home. I wonder how much care was put into building this bridge so that it wouldn’t impact those habitats? Its fascinating to think that while I was here, so many different species were nearby. I probably would have spotted several if I had stood still long enough to not spook them away with noise.
Alas all fun adventures must reach their end. I could see Wirz Park once more before the boardwalk ended. But that’s not a problem. After all, these parks and trails are not going anywhere. I can always return to them for another visit.
Pokémon Go:
Wirz Park Trail Loop was a wonderful adventure in the real world. But how does it measure up in Pokémon Go? Well, don’t let the lack of park markings in game or the few Pokestops deter you. There were plenty of Pokémon to catch. In fact, I started running low on resources since I kept catching everything but had no stops to spin.
So if you have plenty of resources and are looking to hatch some eggs in Pokémon Go, give this trail a look. You won’t be disappointed.
I hatched a Lileo according to my log in Pokemon Go, but I forgot to get a picture of it. I also can’t find the image I took with my buddy for this adventure. A shame since I got a cool spot for the picture.
Luckily, I did not lose the picture I took of myself. Though I wish I didn’t have so much crap on that shirt. You can see the dust even in the picture. And yes I have headphones on, but the sound is low so I can still hear what is happening around me. Music helps me find my center, especially when I am not feeling so great.
Even while in nature, that smile was forced. I’m feeling better now, but at the time, I was not in a good place. I’m glad that I am out of that funk now at least.
