Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Candyland Park
I’m all moved in and ready to explore again. Candyland Park was right around the corner from my house. Naturally that was as good a place to start as any.
I did not find any candy at Candyland Park. But there was plenty of land. And the park used its space wisely and seemed intent on cramming as much to do as possible into the space.
Not only does this park have a large parking lot, but I saw basketball courts just down the way. Right nearby sit plenty of tennis courts. There is even a soccer field hidden behind some of the other features. But there is much more here than even that. So let’s dive deeper.
Diving Deeper:
Candyland Park for all of its facilities sat empty when I came by. Covid 19 continues to effect our lives. I hope that soon this park will filled with kids laughter again. I got vaccinated, and there are new mandates allowing those of us who have done so to go around mask free. I’ll still wear mine in heavily trafficked areas. But its a sign that maybe things will be improving soon.
I mentioned many of the other facilities at this park, and the playground was yet another one worth checking out. But one feature by far takes up the most space at this place. And that would be the baseball fields. There were several to choose from and quite a bit of what I saw after this was around those spots.
To the Baseball Fields:
Before I explored the baseball fields at Candyland Park in more detail, I checked out the other corners of the park. I properly got a good picture of the soccer field and basketball court. One feature that I didn’t get to take a picture of was the skate park. It was in use by a large group and I didn’t want them getting in the picture.
Moving past that, I returned to the baseball fields for a closer look. I have visited quite a few of these empty places and each one is a sad reminder of what this pandemic has taken away from us. I hope that we have a better future beyond Covid 19.
For my final stop at Candyland Park, I checked out the baseball fields in more detail. I still didn’t find any candy though. I know I mentioned the silence earlier, but its still eerie. There have been a lot of empty fields as I explored parks both in the Orlando area and Jacksonville. Who knows how long it will be before sounds resound through this place, much less others like it?
Pokémon Go:
So how does Candyland Park measure up in Pokémon Go? Obviously my last adventure is unfair to compare against. The Riverwalk was one of the best places to play Pokémon Go in all of Jacksonville. But this sleepy park in Longwood Florida isn’t terrible. There are a couple Pokestops and its a nest as well. One Gym all the way on the other end is not pictured above.
So all in all, while there are better places to play Pokémon Go, there are also much worse. If you come here to make use of the many facilities that Candyland Park has to offer, I see no reason not to play Pokémon Go as well. There was enough spawn variety here to make it worth it.
Munna achieved its dream of growing up and evolving into a Musharna. Next up, I’m taking a quick journey with this Woobat so that it can gain the courage to evolve into a Swoobat. This might be the only adventure the two of us go on together, but the little bat had fun.
I have an incredible talent where I take selfies while staring towards the sun. Don’t be like me if you want to look happy in your pictures.
Wrap Up:
There are plenty more places for me to explore now that I am back in Orlando. And I might even travel elsewhere for some surprise adventures. Stay tuned for more.
