Centrum Glacies 2021 Session 6: Flurry of Fists

Admin/ May 16, 2021/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Week six in 2021 of this Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies seems to be reaching the head as the plot twists drop. The party finally reached the Peacemaker Cathedral. But they fought through a flurry of fists to reach it.

Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book series. However I’m still working on that project. Give it some time.

Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing once the book series starts hitting virtual and real shelves.

!!!Trigger Warning!!!

This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture.

Most recently one of the party members had an eye gouged out and lost an arm. Not exactly the way it happens in Berserk, but that might have been the inspiration for it. The group at large is currently succumbing to magical wounds that appear to be turning them into Demons.

!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!

The party fought off an army Peacemaker Monks with magic and battle prowess. Though each of these enemies was well trained, their flurry of fists was no match for a Warlock, Paladin, Druid, and an Artificer.

The group pulled the entire mass of enemies into a small area to deal with them in small groups. Or at least that is what they had planned to do. Most of their opponents broke off and attacked Apephe, their Dragon ally. She sustained a lot of attacks and even shifted out of her Dragon form to avoid being overwhelmed by injuries. Considering the flurry of fists her way, its impressive she walked away no worse.

After the battle, the group took a short rest and was worried that nothing came after them. The city behind them was filled with fire and blood. Persephine and Vim-Kios continued their titanic battle. There was enough Magic being thrown around by those two that even at a far distance, the party could sense it. They had no choice but to continue forward.

Upon entering the temple Faustus freaked out and tried to leave. Memories swelled from his past and he couldn’t see present from before. But there was no leaving. The moment the party had stepped foot inside the Peacemaker Temple, the doors had shut and a magic barrier tied to potent magic kept them in.

That powerful magic had manifested on every inch of the citadel. Even to those who didn’t understand magic properly, it was clear what was going on here. The Peacemakers must have found some item that amplified the Mental Law of Magic. That was how the Cult was controlling the entire population of the Imperial Capital. Would the party be next?

Volun Appears:

Volun the final Mythril Adventurer spoke to them telepathically, revealing himself as the leader of the Peacemakers. His words haunted the group. He claimed that they had not chosen to come here of their free will. That all their actions had been predicated and made manifest long before now. He welcomed then to explore the Cathedral. The fact that nothing attacked the group only made them more uneasy.

Party followed his directions against their better judgement through the temple. Empty rooms to the rest of the group, to Faustus they were much more. Fighting back memories and flashbacks, he did his best to press on. Malcolm gripped his arm to make sure he didn’t wander lost in his thoughts.

Eventually the group reached a dead end at the bedchambers. Faustus had once lived in this room with countless other acolytes. But besides the Monks the party had fought on the way here, no other enemies had appeared thus far. The party was reluctant to all huddle into an obvious dead end. Seemed too obvious as a trap.

But Volun had other plans. Apparently that wasn’t how he intended this tour to play out and forced Malcolm to draw a magic sword from the bedchambers. The Paladin doesn’t know if he can trust this weapon since the Peacemaker Leader is a clear enemy. But as a practicality, it was an upgrade over his battle axe.

After picking it up he was granted one last vision of fighting enemies in the entrance hall. Was this another trick or was this the only way the group could move forward.

Wrap Up:

Worried that they can be controlled at any time, the party has no choice but to explore the Peacemaker Temple. But what is waiting in store? Can Faustus handle whatever Volun has in store?
