Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Belmonte Park
For my next adventure in San Marco Florida, I visited Belmonte Park. I had high expectations for this park. Let’s see what I found.
Belmonte Park was a lot less like the last couple places I visited. It felt like a real park. after going to all the small spaces by the shore this was a nice change of pace.
There is plenty of room for multiple groups to enjoy themselves. This is extremely important in the age of Covid 19. Like many other places I have visited recently, this park stood mostly empty. I wonder if that will change when the pandemic finally comes to an end.
Like many of the other parks I visited recently, there was a rules sign posted at the front. I like taking a picture of those signs so that I know for sure I am entering public property. Can’t be too careful in Florida.
As I explored the rest of Belmonte Park, I appreciated what this place must look like when fully packed. Its a beautiful park surrounded by homes and a quiet and safe neighborhood. I have enjoyed my time exploring San Marco. This park exists as a quiet space where one can get away from all the noise of the nearby Jacksonville district.
A single path zig zags around the park. But I left it for a time since one of the benches had a four legged visitor sitting on it. Even though I am sure the cat sitting there was harmless, I didn’t want to scare them. Instead I kept my distances so they knew I posed no threat to them.
Pokémon Go:
I have showcased Belmonte Park in the real world. I think the images speak for themselves. Now lets talk about how this spot measures up in Pokémon Go. This part of the adventure left me feeling disappointed. Despite the space, there is only one Pokestop here. Worse, the spawns were few. Ironically, the tiny riverfront parks actually had many more spawns and included Gyms.
Belmonte Park is a wonderful place to relax when visiting Jacksonville. But there are better options when it comes to Pokémon Go. One of those options is downtown San Marco itself.
Munna had fun at Belmonte Park. I still wish I could fly like it can.
Here I am at Belmonte Park without a mask. There were very few people here besides me. And that cat of course.
Wrap Up:
Next time I’ll be visiting what I think is the best park in San Marco. I saved the best one for the absolute end. Look forward to something exciting next.
