Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Jacksonville Drew Park

Admin/ March 24, 2021/ Florida, North Florida, Travel

As promised, I visited Jacksonville Drew Park after my slight detour. Right near one of my other adventures, I wondered how this place would hold up to its neighbor.

Jacksonville Drew Park has one major feature I have seen at other parks. This place is first and foremost, a series of baseball fields. As Covid 19 still is in control of the world, these fields remain empty. They also seemed to be closed to the public. Instead, I got the best pictures I could from the outside.

I also took a picture of the nearby retention pond. Originally, I went that way because I saw some Geese chilling. Since there was fence between me and this bird that I despise, I felt bit braver in snapping a picture. However, by the time I got there, the Geese had left to do other Geese things.

Around the Baseball Fields:

Since the baseball fields were closed at Jacksonville Drew Park, I continued walking around the outer perimeter. I wasn’t the only one with this idea either. Since others walked around the parking lot just like me, I had to stagger my photos accordingly.

There are some spots I missed taking pictures of. The reason for this was to avoid having children in my pictures. There is a playground at Jacksonville Drew Park. But it was in use when I visited. Electing not to even look like I was taking pictures of said park to avoid spooking parents, I quickly passed that area. Those of you reading this who have children should check it out though when the pandemic is over. Its a large enough space for kids to run around freely and safely.

It seems that the parking lot was designed with walkers and runners in mind. I passed a mile marker sign indicating the total length of my journey. Though half a mile is nothing compared to some of my longer walks, it is freeing to get any distance in after Covid kept me at home for so long.

The Parking Lot:

I made sure to take a couple photos of the actual parking lot too. It wasn’t too crowded at Jacksonville Drew Park. That meant I didn’t need to worry about getting people’s license plates in my pictures by accident. You can tell by the sky that just like my adventure to the park next door, it was a perfect day to go outside. In fact, I came here around noon.

Usually I go exploring in the morning due to Florida heat. But I was feeling bold. Well really I was doing other things and couldn’t get there any earlier. So, anyway, good thing it was nice outside and not scorching hot right?

Pokemon Go:

Well I have showcased Jacksonville Drew Park in the reality. How does it measure up in Pokémon go? Admittedly, though there are a few Pokestops and a Gym to battle at, the spawns were not that plentiful or varied. If you have a choice between here and Lovelace Park, the other one is vastly superior for playing Go.

However, if you use Jacksonville Drew Park for what it is meant for: Baseball, a nice stroll, or a playground for children. Then you will enjoy your time here.

I’m still walking Trogdor the Deino. But he is fast approaching that time where he will evolve into a mighty Hydreigon. I wonder how he will feel about the world I am showing him when he can finally see it?

Hello. I’m an idiot who likes to take pictures while looking towards the sun. I hope you enjoy your day and liked reading this blog post.

Wrap Up:

Where will my travels take me next? I have no idea. But I’ll be sure to tell you all about it when I get there.
