D&D Day 5: Tournaments and Bamboozlement
Shenanigans Continue
Day one of the tournament was at its end, and the group decided to do a bunch of solo tasks to pass time.
First, the Rogue decided to make a mustache and miraculously through arts unknown to him created a magical item of no small power. While wearing this mustache, onlookers believed him to be a human and not a giant. The Rogue tried to replicate this feat for his pet rock but did not succeed. He decided to go play children’s card games on horseback and won money.
The Paladin went to the shops to buy a chess set and a flute. She found an inn and challenged old friends she had made in the town of Iron for fun.
Everyone else, including the Psionic, Monk, Death Knight, and Barbarian/Warlock decided to spend the day honing their skills.
The Rogue used his extra money to make lady friends en mass that night. He brought as many of them as he could back to his room and got some very much needed R and R. Kal, tired from his battle with the Sorceress went to bed. The rest of the group found a bounty that indicated that a mysterious patron wanted to learn more about Rose, the Sorceress and the group was equally interested.
An Unfortunate Meeting
Meeting their employer in a back alley, it turned out to be a trap! Rose herself had put out the bounty to find potential enemies. She succeeded in casting Charm Person, her signature spell on the group, and although the Death Knight turned around and managed to get some seduction of his own off on the woman, she managed to wrest tons of information from each of the adventurers. Dark secrets? Their goals in life? Rose got as much information as she wanted.
Next she decided to mess with the Monk, and commanded him to act like a dog. This embarrassing incident will not soon be forgotten by him. Angry and frustrated, the group finally escaped the Sorceress’ clutches. The Death Knight decided to remember the location of this hideout in case Rose became an even bigger problem. The group went to bed, ready to get this mistake out of their minds.
Round 2
Round 2 started off to an unusual start in the tournament. The Monk and the Death Knight got a much needed rematch. Both were instilled a challenge to make their battle more interesting. The Death Knight was forced to hold off on attacking while the Monk was ordered to do the opposite. They started at opposite ends and the Death Knight stalled for time and then instilled intense fear in the Monk. Running away from his foe, the Monk gave the advantage to the Death Knight. They clashed a few times, energy blasts meeting steel, but ultimately the Death Knight won with his superior armor.
While this was going on, the Rogue had gotten the audience drunk and got them into a frenzy. Booing the Death Knight and cheering for the Monk. This was because the Rogue had bet a lot of money in the Monks favor and was willing to use whatever means at his disposal to win.
The second match was between the Paladin and the Barbarian/Warlock. For much of the fight, it looked like the Paladin had an extreme advantage, quickly bringing her foe to a near defeat. But his armor buffs did damage that added up and just as quickly, the Barbarian with a well timed critical swing ended the fight in a massive blow.
While this second fight occurred, the Rogue found his way to the VIP Section and managed to get the crowd drunk there as well. He felt quite accomplished in this regard and planned his next move.
Next was the Psionic who fought against Orengar, the sneaky archer. At first it looked like the Psionic would fall as a flurry of deadly shots threatened to end the battle. That was until it was revealed that he had preemptively summoned his dream form who took the hits instead. He lurked above out of range of the archer and nuked him to death with deadly spells. He won his battle with little more than frustration at how long it took to end.
The next match match was a simple slaughter as Rose mind controlled the Naked Monk and forced him to dance around the arena, get kicked in the nuts repeatedly and then surrender. Sneak Peak used the fact that the crowd was distracted by the freak show to rob countless people in the stands. Even being caught by guards twice did not stop him from getting money.
The rest of the games were uneventful and the group decided to find things to do for the second day in Iron during the tournament.
A Convoluted Scheme
A couple of the players decided to take part in a training montage including: The Monk and the Death Knight. The Paladin offered training in chess and charged patrons to participate. The Barbarian/Warlock did manual labor for money. Kal slept the day away.
The Rogue used the money he had stolen to buy illegal drugs. He had a plan that would guarantee his gambling would bring him untold amounts of wealth. All he had to do was convince his allies to do things that might be against their interests.
That night, the Rogue attempted to force steroids into the Monk via his ass. But the attempt at sexual harassment failed when the Monk awoke. Annoyed, the Rogue went out in search of new victims. But ultimately decided on making drinks for his “friends.”
The Death Knight climbed a roof with a gargoyle so that he could brood while looking down on the city through the night. Satisfied, he went to bed late. The Paladin continued her training until finally exhausted, she turned in for the night. The Barbarian/Warlock stuffed his face with food and passed out thanks to food coma.
Round 3: Drug Addition
Before the battles the next morning, the Rogue offered his “drinks” to his allies, all save the Paladin and Barbarian/Warlock refused. The latter accidentally knocked his drink over, leaving only the Paladin. She was not pleased to find out her drink had been laced with LSD and would be forced to fight a battle while hallucinating intensely.
The Paladin was forced to fight her Psionic friend and strangely enough, he delusions on the drug aided her in resisting his spells. Unfortunately, he finally managed to trap her in an illusion where she thought her armor was melting. Though she ignored the psychic induced pain and lobbed javelin after javelin at her foe, eventually the Psionic won out in an intense battle.
Before the second battle began, the Rogue forced the Death Knight to snort some drugs for an added boost in battle. And a boost it gave. A battle that should have easily gone in the Barbarian/Warlock’s favor shifted drastically to the Death Knight. The drug induced boost allowed him to beat his friend in an incredibly unfair battle. While all this was going on, the Rogue continued to rob people to further his gambling addiction.
The final match that mattered was an incredibly one sided match where the Monk fought against a Naked Monk and gave a much awaited beat down. The day is still young and there are still 4 days to go in this tournament.
Just who is Rose? And what about her Master Ourabaras? What will happen when the month ends? Who will win this crazy tournament? All these questions will hopefully get answers. But those are for next time.
