Cycle of Millennia 2021 Session 19: Reunion

Admin/ July 7, 2021/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Here is week 19 of my 2021 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Cycle of Millennia. Lets go over session 19: Reunion.

Don’t forget that this campaign has been ongoing for over three years. There is a lot of story to cover and I’m writing a book series to document it all. I am adapting this adventure into a book series. The first three are on Amazon.

!!!Trigger Warnings Abound!!!

This campaign takes place in an incredibly unpleasant setting. The party has dealt with Human Traffickers, Sex Slavery, Child Sacrifice, The Apocalypse, Genocide, Wicked Cults, and other related topics.

There is a God of Madness that is fond of causing auditory and visual hallucinations, makes use of psychic gaslighting, commands the literal legions of hell, and all around causes untold suffering in the setting.

Essentially, nothing is off the table in this campaign. If the above ideas are not ones you want to think about, I do not think this blog series is for you. That is not a problem and does not indicate any failings on your part. I am a storyteller that does not shy away from the darkest topics. It would be horrible for me to not warn my audiences of this in advance.

!!!Final Trigger Warning. Past this point there be dark topics!!!

Grez, Rose and Velkora fought off bat swarm and revenants. The Orarabaras Witch knew that the Revenants were targeting her so she quickly erected a magical barrier to keep them away.

The Undead then suprised Grez by revealing they could talk. They asked him to effectively betray Velkora and give them what they wanted. When he refused, the creatures warned that they would pursue the group forever otherwise.

Meanwhile, Rose dealt with most of the bat swarms. They were a significantly weaker enemy than the Revenants.

After the battle, Grez searched the cave to look for treasure. Instead he found countless peepholes along the walls. Wondering how long they were, he shot an energy blast down one such hole. It took him several minutes to find out.

Realizing that there were no Vampire corpses, the party surmised what the holes were for. The Vampires must have become mist and fled. Given the length of the tunnels, they had run quite far.

Mission Failed:

The group returned to Moshe who realized that they hadn’t killed the Vampires. But that didn’t stop the three from being scared to tell him the truth. The Nihilinn Cultist was disappointed, but told them that given the distance of those tunnels and innate vanity of Vampires, there was only one place they could have gone.

Scholar’s Way was the one place that the armies of death had not destroyed outside of Mongress and the capitol. The three decided not to tell Moshe about the rebuilding projects. Instead, they told him they would set this right and come back.

He stopped them before they left. He wanted to show them something first. Something important enough to keep them from pursuing the Vampires.

Charice Cathedral:

Wondering what he intended, the group followed Moshe. He led them to the center of Innovia City. At the center of the center, high above everything else sat the Charice Cathedral. As the holiest temple to that Goddess, many of her adherents swarmed the area. Countless statues to her sat all around.

He told the party one of the Cultists was inside. And he correctly assumed that they had come into Conflict with the Charice faithful in the past. He reminded that that since he was one of the leaders of Innovia City, Moshe was uniquely equipped to help them achieve that mission.

Armed with this newest set of information, the three only grew more suspicious of this man. Why was he helping them? Why had he granted them information freely after they had failed?

Velkora and Rose wanted to get out of here and travel to Scholars Way immediately. But Grez had other ideas. Asking them both if this was the most advanced city in the world, they responded with a flat yes. He demanded they go shopping before they left.

Tine:

The three found a promising shop that sold Magic trinkets and potions. They also got to properly speak to the shopkeeper who introduced herself as Tine.

She admitted that she wasn’t making much money currently given all the events happening in the world.

This gave Velkora an idea. She told Tine about Mongress being rebuilt. The shopkeeper was skeptical. Asking how street urchins and homeless would have any money. The Orabaras Witch told her that she had personally added money to their economy to help with the rebuilding process.

It seemed that Tine didn’t believe them. She turned around and did something that surprised Velkora. Realizing that she possessed Magic skills, but was not affiliated with any of the Gods, she planned how to bring her to her Goddess’ side.

After scrying Mongress, Tine realized they were telling the truth and decided that she would move her shop. She even offered the party some free potions as a form of finders fee.

Reunited:

Content, the three returned to Lord Death’s Necropolis. Hadron and Caic were there so the group was reunited at long last. Velkora was unusually happy to see Caic which only made everyone else extremely suspicious. Rose most of all. She decided to telepathically ask what was really going on.

Freed From the Curse:

Caic worked with Antoinette to free himself from his wereboar curse. A process that looked extremely painful since she impaled multiple of her spears into him.

Grez and Velkora came to watch the spectacle. The Witch even considered interfering. Anotinette warned her that she wouldn’t allow that.

Caic watched as a shadow version of himself was ripped from his body. It was him by completely a Wereboar. The Vampire warned that he needed to kill this version of himself to be permanently free.

He almost was beaten by his darker half. But in the end, Caic finally purged himself of the Wereboar curse.

With that out of the way, Hadron, and Caic told the others what they had learned while trapped in Kranaak’s realm. Fearing that a massive Demon army was heading towards Mongress, they debated how to deal with this newest problem. After all, they had vampires to deal with and a Cult to hunt down.

Wrap Up:

They need to formulate a plan quickly. But they can’t agree one how to solve this problem. What happens if they choose wrong?
