Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Estella Park

With the weather being perfect, I got a chance to go on another adventure in Lake Mary, Florida. This park seemed intriguing given what the thumbnail photo was on google when I found this park. Anyway, let’s see what I found at Estella Park. A place like my last adventure that is tucked away in a neighborhood.

Normally I am only positive on this blog, but I want to make something very clear about Estella Park. This place a shadow of what it once was. Normally I wouldn’t mention a thumbnail on Google. After all, the entire point of me exploring parks is to see what I find for myself. But when I came here, I saw signs at what had once been. You might notice that if you look carefully in the photos. Its depressing to me that a park that once offered something relatively unique has lost it. Especially after what I found last time.

There was once a board walk that allowed one to get much closer to a pond that I spotted alligators in and so kept my distance. That boardwalk is long gone and now only a couple benches and a partially cut off sidewalk remain of what I imagine was once a beautiful green space. There was once a playground here too according to Google. The fact that all of that is gone is a tragedy.

Pokémon Go

This post took a surprisingly negative turn. But how does Estella Park measure up in Pokémon Go you might ask? The same, sadly. The path that was once here is actually marked in the game. But like the park, the spawns were basically gone. I found one Pokémon while here. At least the park still has a Pokestop. Still, if you are looking to play Pokémon Go, I would recommend going elsewhere. This park is now a corner green space to think quietly. And I’ll be thinking for a while about how much more this park once was.

I still managed to smile despite my disappointment. The weather was still beautiful and a green space around a lake is not a bad thing by any means. But as I have stressed several times in this post, this park was once so much more. I hope one day that Estella Park can be restored to its former glory. Or perhaps some talented engineers can make this place even better than it once was. For now at least, I’ll be seeking out a new adventure for next week. I’ll do my best to make sure it has a more positive spin.
