Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Margaret Wesley Park

Admin/ January 10, 2026/ Central Florida, Florida, Pokémon Go, Travel, Video Games

I got a chance to go on another adventure and explored a small corner of Lake Mary, Florida I had never been to before. Finding Margaret Wesley Park on this specific adventure.

Margaret Wesley Park is a small green space with benches and trees on the edge of a local lake. Lots of Florida towns have parks like this one in neighborhoods. I’m not sure if its because of how fragmented Florida neighborhoods are or if its more related to the idea of including parks near homes. And of course my cynical mind jumps to how its there for land value reasons. Anyway back to the park.

Since I arrived early the morning, I got a lovely view of the sun rising over the lake. Pictures don’t do a good job conveying everything about watching the dawn. I used to wake up to watch the sun come up and on visiting this park, I think I might start doing that again.

The park itself had a few visitors besides me. Its good to know that greenspaces like this one are being used. One of the reasons I started this blog was upon discovering a hidden gem near where I lived. And although the trails are great adventures that help with my mental health, little corners of the world like Margaret Wesley Park are what started this blog. And they hold a special place for me whenever I find one.

Pokémon Go

After exploring Margaret Wesley Park in reality, let’s turn towards Pokémon Go and see how this park measures up. Anyway, this time around I played Pokémon Go at the park first and then explored. Despite only having a single gym, there were plenty of spawns. I can’t judge how rare the spawns are since an event is currently going where lots of rare stuff in Florida is spawning. But there were good numbers of Pokémon and that is always a plus at a park.

Something I have started looking at when I can is how long Pokémon remain at gyms. Especially at parks like this one that are in more remote places that people wouldn’t normally go. When Pokémon are placed in gyms, the game keeps track of how they are there. The ones I knocked out had been there almost 25 days. So 25 days since anyone had probably played Pokémon Go at that park. I wonder how long mine will be in that gym? If I remember to find out I’ll write the answer in a future post.

Here I am, smiling because I got to explore a little park. There are some larger parks nearby this one. But I want a day with plenty of time for those. Some of those parks are multiple hour affairs and I want to have no distracting thoughts when I visit. Hopefully soon. The weather is perfect and this is when I want to explore those places.
