Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Miami Safari Zone Day 1
Miami Safari Zone Day 1 was my first in person Pokémon Go event. And I only had an inkling of what to expect. Not only was I in a city I barely knew, but this was my first time traveling with a group of people I only knew from Pokémon Go. I can get anxiety when on this sort of trip. After all, I can be a lot sometimes, especially when excited.
Well, I don’t want to start this post with negativity. Instead, I want to dive right in. Let’s see how my Miami Safari Zone Day 1 experience was. I will say before I begin that I’ll be doing another in person event when I can afford it.

Before Miami Safari Zone Day 1 began, I had some time to explore the area around Miami. Specifically Brickell and Downtown. Living in Orlando for years now, I could tell that a lot more was focused on improving infrastructure in Miami. Everywhere I looked, there were creatively designed buildings, and lovely views.
With the Atlantic Ocean to the east and lovely clouds in the sky, I couldn’t have asked for better weather. After a breakfast and a warmup for my muscles, I traveled towards downtown Miami for the main event. And I could not hold my excitement for long.
Day 1

The main event itself brought me back to a time I recall fondly. That summer where Pokémon Go first came out was truly magical. I found myself walking around downtown as the Miami Safari Zone Day 1 began. As I walked the city with both friends and strangers, I looked for specially marked Pokestops where I had a chance of finding a special Eevee that was only available during this event.
But I didn’t remain in the Bayside Park even though there was plenty to catch there. The stamp stops were all over the city and I took that chance to explore. The photos above are just a few of the places I walked through. Its a shame that my phone crashes if I close out of Pokémon Go to take pictures. I would have taken many more otherwise.
I traveled through places such as the Brickell City Center, an outside mall that doesn’t look like one unless you look carefully. In addition the streets around downtown had walkways both over and under bridges. I made sure to check out both places. And of course the Miami skyline sat to the west while the Atlantic Ocean beckoned to the east. As I stated earlier, the weather was perfect too.
Tanker Ship

As the day went on, clouds covered the sky and made the day even more pleasant than before. Even though I was busy catching Pokémon for Miami Safari Zone Day 1, I took a moment to watch something else go by.
Anyone who has kept up with my blog knows I love trains. As I walked down this section of Miami, a large tanker ship with two tugboats went by. And lots of boat enthusiasts were out to record it and take pictures. Even though I’m not a boat person I took the time to take some photos of it passing through. I can understand the excitement though. Enough people even stopped catching to check out the spectacle.
End of Day 1

As night fell, I finished Safari Zone Miami with a smile on my face. With a Shiny Event Eevee and countless other rare catches, this was one of the best times I have had while playing the game. And of course the Miami skyline is even more spectacular at night than during the day.
The Christmas tree at Bayside Park as well as countless other lights made sure that even at night everyone felt safe. The well lit park was where I finished my Safari Zone Miami Day 1 adventure.
But Day 2 was just around the corner. And I have plenty more content coming to showcase my second day’s worth of adventure.
