Centrum Glacies Session 113: Statues

Admin/ July 25, 2025/ Books, Centrum Glacies, Dungeons and Dragons

Week 113 of the Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies continues as the party clashes with Statues with strange protection.

Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book seriesYou can check out the first one here.

Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing in the book series.

!!!Trigger Warning!!!

This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture, psychological warfare, child abuse, and slavery.

Most recently, the party helped cause a complete planetary genocide. Save a few survivors, no one remains from that world. They are still grappling with this unfathomable loss of life and their role in making it happen. It is clear that their suffering is far from over. They can only hope they don’t cause untold pain to an even more untold more.

!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!

Split up and forced to navigate a mechanical maze, half of the party was locked in combat with the heavily armored statues. They had a second form of protection too. Some form of invisible armor that regenerated constantly making these constructs even tougher than normal.

But the segment of the group fighting these statues had a powerful and dangerous ally. Persephine showed why she was a Mythril Adventurer as she joined the fight. Using the very artifact that the party had given to her unwittingly a long time ago, the Witch erased one of the constructs using the Law of Silence.

Unfortunately, the creatures were immune to magic that didn’t come from power as potent as The Law of Silence. Instead, the party fought the creatures off with their regular weapons. Chipping away at the creatures strike after strike and combating the invisible armor that continuously regenerated.

Another Pair of Goggles

Meanwhile, the other half of the party explored a different section of the metal maze. Trent noticed a weird pair of goggles on the ground. And undamaged at that which was odd given where they were. The only other feature of the room was a group of four statues that didn’t react to anything the group did.

The Druid asked The Dragon to put the goggles on. “My Lord, Teztcal, would you like to put these on?” Teztcal didn’t know what glasses were. And asked why Trent wanted him to cover his face. Specifically his eyes which would prevent him from being able to see.

Engelique groaned. She didn’t have patience enough for their antics. She told Trent to just give them to her. Unlike Teztcal she was more familiar with unusual technology. She noticed something flowing into a device in the middle of the room room. Whatever it was wasn’t visible properly without the goggles.

More Statues

Teztcal saw where she was looking and made a rash decision out of boredom. He kicked the device, calling it junk. It began to shake and so he kicked it again. He ignored the Witch’s warnings as it was clear he was causing something to happen. She wanted him to stop of course.

The device fully turned on and the doors both behind and ahead shut. The statues activated causing the second group to fight against them. Teztcal was left dumbfounded as to what to say when Engelique called him out on his behavior. She then went on to explain how these statues work. Trent and Teztcal didn’t ask how she knew about this enemy.

Engelique went out of her way to disable the statues spell immunity properties. This in turn allowed the rest of party to fight to their full potential. It was a battle of attrition though since the statues had a ton of armor plus the invisible protection.

More Danger

Meanwhile the other half of the party destroyed the statues. Kisara still wearing the goggles noticed another line running away from the machine that had triggered the statues to attack. This line led her and the rest of the group back the way they came. Unfortunately the statues in this room were not the only ones that had activated.

As Kisara rounded the corner the statue which they had investigated but had not been able to get to move attacked. It fired an energy ray at her which she dodged. But the group all took a moment to process what happened to the wall that had been marked by the missed beam. Scorched. This wasn’t an enemy they could ignore.

Jyona took out the construct in one attack. She used a lighting spell which did incredible damage and released a horrible smell into the air. Pieces of the now destroyed statue flew everywhere. And Jyona gleefully gathered them up with Kisara doing the same.

The other group continued witling down the statues. They were not as well equipped to kill them. In fact Trent’s helpful Elemental ally was taken out by one of them. But Teztcal was starting to turn the fight around now that he was back in Dragon form and was no longer using spells that were resisted.

The first group meanwhile continued back the way they came and encountered another statue. This one also immediately fired upon them. Unlike last time, Jyona was not able to instantly destroy it.

Wrap Up

There are still plenty of enemies left in the mechanical maze. And the two Witches have not fully explained why they needed the party to come with them. Not to mention none of them intended to be in an Orc Facility. Things are looking problematic.
