I’m here and so are you if you are reading this blog post for another instalment of Surviving the Felon. We are just barely into May and it feels like an eternity since January of this year. As more and more on the news is designed to make us angry, and as an increasing number of responses to social media posts are bots designed to make us angry, we have to control our energy and how we spend it.

Last week was a lot of stress and I’m still not taking my own advice and getting trapped into outrage bait on the internet. But I’m working on avoiding those rabbit holes and protecting my emotions from those who would do them harm for profit. And now that the depressive episode of last week has passed me by, I feel better equipped to do so.

This week has a lot of doom and gloom. But there is also hope to be found. Sometimes a little digging past the sludge will help one find some gemstones. Just be careful when submerging in filth. There is no guarantee that there is a reward hiding behind it.

The Bad

While the news tries to control what we are worried about, don’t forget to learn more about the Heritage FoundationPeter Thiel, and Curtis Yarvin. These are our real enemies, alongside The Window Shover of course. I’m putting this at the start of The Bad Section because I feel like this is by far the most important thing to get out of the negative.

Anyway with that vital info once again added to this post, let’s get into the bad. A lot of the same stuff has me worried from last week. I won’t bring those things up again since I mentioned them in prior posts. Instead I want to focus on new problems such as Congress trying to make it impossible for the opposition to legally fight back.

In other news, The Felon is trying to change the name of Veteran’s Day. What a slap in the face to people who fought for our country. Even if the wars were unjust not every person who fought and served was a bad person themselves. In fact there are many heroes who willingly put their lives on the line every day. And The Felon is spitting in their faces. Not to mention that military parade he is planning for his birthday is spitting in the eyes of the United States. If only someone would hold him accountable.

Protect your loved ones. And don’t forget that if a law is unjust, and breaking that law would be moral, don’t hesitate. The Felon is making up laws on a whim and ignoring the constitution. Do not feel the need to bind yourself to a document our government ignores.

The Good

Well we made it through the bad. Let’s talk about the good and I want to start with something that is making me really happy. Canada rejected Fascism. Unlike the United States enough of their people understood what would happen if they elected their own version of The Felon. Ironically that election was in the bag for their own extreme right wing until The Felon started running his mouth. You know what they say about letting an enemy defeat itself.

Speaking of letting an enemy defeat itself, the Fascists are starting to turn on each other. Despite the media’s best efforts, to steer conversation away, the idiots who shared vital and classified information in a Signal Chat has been put on blast for long enough that people are getting fired. And let that be a lesson that any loyalty to The Felon will be rewarded with betrayal when you have outlived your usefulness.

I never thought I would say this, but I’m proud of Illinois Governor Pritzker. Yes he’s part of the 1 percent and that still technically makes him a problem. But the reality is that it takes the rich to fight other rich people. And he’s picking a fight with The Felon openly. We need more of that. And rapidly given how fast things are turning authoritarian.

Transition

As usual the above is only a small list of things happening around the world. As I try to keep myself from being overwhelmed and fatigued by trying to keep up with US events much less ones around the world I can only do so much I am able to read and discover. Much less what I am willing and able to write about.

Instead I want to pivot back to what made me smile this week. The most powerful form of rebellion against a Fascist regime is to find what brings you joy and smile. Especially if those things that make you smile are not simply slaving away at a job and the brutal tyranny of cooperate capitalism. If you are ever feeling down and need some sort of distraction, why not look at something I’m using to keep my mind busy? There is a reason I provide links to everything I’m talking about.

Video Games

Once more lot of my free time has been spent on video games. It serves as an escape from all the horrible things going on. I’m once again feeling burned out by Eldin Ring. Now I have cleared the main story on two different characters with a third only a couple locations away from the end game themselves. And of course there is still the DLC. I’ll be clearing the game on this third character before I decide which of the three will go beyond that.

Helldivers 2 has been fun this week too. More and more I’m willing to log in and play with randoms. Its helping me overcome a base fear I have. And at the same time, I’m fighting against my toxic gaming habits too. All in all, fighting for democracy has become a path of growth for me.

A lot of my time has once again been spent on Genshin Impact. I finished the story quest and am almost 80 percent of the way done exploring and looting everything not tied down in the volcano. Good timing on that too cause the next patch is coming out next week.

I’m also playing Tales of Symphonia. This game has themes involving reverse racism, religious prosecution, and has blatant Nazis in all but name as antagonists. I don’t find it a coincidence that of all times, I’m finding now to be a proper one to replay one of my absolute favorites.

But none of those games are the one I am currently playing while I write this blog post. Another game from my childhood has been remade and after I spent so much time on its sequel, I decided it was time to give Oblivion another spin. With much more experience in these types of games than before, its been a lot more fun.

Pokémon Go

I didn’t go for a hike this week for my travel blog. But it wasn’t due to depression. No this time it was because there was a raid event that I went to instead. And since the weather is getting much more extreme outside, I need to limit how much I go outside during the week. But don’t worry, soon enough several events will not overlap, and I’ll be back on the trail exploring.

As for Pokémon Go PvP, the current cup is now Great League Remix. Its like the regular Great League with the most centralizing Pokémon banned. The problem is of course that other Pokémon take their place. Most notably, as many of its counters are banned, Primeape is everywhere in this cup. Including on my team.

Anime and Shows

I am not caught up for the week on Fire Force. But I’ll get to it soon. Certainly before the next blog post. There are some interesting fights coming up according to the episode preview, and so there really is no reason for me to delay save all the other activities I mentioned above.

I got a lot further into Thriller Bark, this week. I should be done with this arc of One Piece very soon. And a lot of my friends told me that some of the best parts of the entire Anime are coming up soon. Considering how much I loved Water 7, I can’t wait to see something that is potentially even better.

Dungeons & Dragons

This week I ran both segments of my Centrum Glacies Campaign. The Feywild Arc is rushing towards a crazy conclusion and I can’t wait for my players to see what I have in store for them. I know they are eager to level up but they still have a little bit to go before they reach that milestone.

Writing and Editing

For this week, I handed my editor the manuscript once more and am letting him have at it. I’m sure there will be plenty for him to see and mark. Its what happens when you have a novel you wrote a long time ago and just hoped it would fix itself. At least I have the knowledge to know that a second pair of eyes is vital to make this story that much better.

I wrote another 5437 words total this week not counting the blog posts. I needed a bit of a break after the almost non stop writing during the month of April. But I actually am pleased with how much progress I made and am considering monitoring word counts moving forward as a self motivator. There is still a long way to go until I’m finished writing that Search for Eden Novel and no time like the present to change that.

Reading

I’m reaching towards the end of what is published in Tower of God so far. But its clear that the story still has a long way to go before it reaches it conclusion. I’ll be checking out the spinoff when its published as well, but once I reach the end of Tower of God, I’ll be reading something else for a while.

Wrap Up

May is here and we have all survived the best we can against The Felon. And while The Couch Humper pisses our allies away while serving the bidding of his oligarch masters, I have some renewed hope that the economy crashing and burning will get some of these people to reverse what they are doing.

Unfortunately we all have to brace ourselves as the rich and powerful play games with the world economies for funsies and ruin our lives without thinking of the consequences. Have hope though because as they pursue greed, its a reminder that they are empty people who are pathetic because their lives hold no meaning. If money and assets tomorrow no longer held any value, then everything they have dedicated their lives to would be worthless, just like the people who currently hoard it all.

For that reason we should all live lives for the purpose of enrichment. Create that picture, write that poetry, and do something that capitalism considers worthless. Remember that in reality Capitalism itself and the pursuit of money is what is truly worthless in our world. We just have people who lack imagination and purpose forcing us to become the same.

But they will not win. We will continue creating light, love, and hope. And so together we can Survive the Felon and outlast his evil.

And one way to outlast that evil is to look at this cat.
