Centrum Glacies 2023 Session 45: Blood Haze 2
Week 45 in 2022 of this Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies continues beyond Jarrar as the party continues to succumb to a blood haze.
Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book series. You can check out the first one here.
Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing in the book series.
!!!Trigger Warning!!!
This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture.
Most recently one of the party members had an eye gouged out and lost an arm. Not exactly the way it happens in Berserk, but that might have been the inspiration for it. The group at large is currently succumbing to magical wounds that appear to be turning them into Demons.
!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!
As the group continued to succumb to the blood haze, their Demon transformations started overwriting their normal needs and desires. And these Cultists were within arms reach. The party hated them anyway. So why not kill them all?
Jyona ran ahead and attacked without a second thought due to blood haze. She had clearly succumb to primal urges. Would she be able to hold onto her sanity long enough to not take a life? Everything she had killed thus far had been a monster. But what would she do if she killed someone while under the influence of this blood haze?
Giants:
But killing Cult of Obsidian members wasn’t enough to sate this blood haze. They continued to succumb to their Demon transformations. And Olanna was more than happy to entertain them in this state. In the center chamber of this volcano base, she sent two massive fire giants at them. Armed with multiple shields each, these monstrosities slowed the group down. Their killing urges demanding more sacrifice.
Trent and Jyona ran into some trouble as they were the first to go in and fight the giants. Malcolm did his best to protect his allies. Turned out he was slowly earning that Mythril Adventurer title. He refused to succumb to the blood haze.
But Giants, even armed with fiery shields were no match for a group of Platinum Adventurers and a deluded Dragon. Especially when all of them had been forced to transform into powerful monsters. Monster that had of course, succumbed to murder urges. And soon nothing except Olanna and the party was alive inside that base.
For her part, the woman let them go. At least on this front she was being honest with them. But when they emerged, they didn’t recognize their surroundings at all. Instead of tundra or desert, the group found themselves in a jungle.
Nearby they saw a watchtower filled with soldiers. And all had their weapons trained their direction. Also nearby they saw a river and the water didn’t look normal.
Speaking of lacking normal. They were near an active volcano. And everything on this side of the river was burned to ash. A major contrast from the green separated by a small body of water.
Wrap Up:
Now the group has some choices to make. Crossing the water is dangerous apparently. And the moment they do, the soldiers will likely attack. And to make matters worse, Olanna has promised that the moment they touch the water, she will no longer be friendly.
