Cycle of Millennia 2022 Session 58: One Last Celebration:
Here is week 58 of my 2022 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Cycle of Millennia, The party get’s one last celebration before the end.
Don’t forget that this campaign has been ongoing for over four years. There is a lot of story to cover and I’m writing a book series to document it all. I am adapting this adventure into a book series. The first three are on Amazon.
!!!Trigger Warnings Abound!!!
This campaign takes place in an incredibly unpleasant setting. The party has dealt with Human Traffickers, Sex Slavery, Child Sacrifice, The Apocalypse, Genocide, Wicked Cults, and other related topics.
There is a God of Madness that is fond of causing auditory and visual hallucinations, makes use of psychic gaslighting, commands the literal legions of hell, and all around causes untold suffering in the setting.
Essentially, nothing is off the table in this campaign. If the above ideas are not ones you want to think about, I do not think this blog series is for you. That is not a problem and does not indicate any failings on your part. I am a storyteller that does not shy away from the darkest topics. It would be horrible for me to not warn my audiences of this in advance.
!!!Final Trigger Warning. Past this point there be dark topics!!!
The group only had one obstacle stopping them from escaping the crumbling caves under the Yggdrasil Bridges. But it was a Demon they had never faced before. Though unknown, it was only one enemy against a party that had gone into hell and back. More recently Grez had regained some of his powers as Wylf. It was over quickly.
Once out of the gorge and back above ground, the party found Lord Death’s Necropolis nearby. With Grez’s new power, he was able to dispel the God of Law’s mind control wave and free Lord Death and the Death Knights under his command.
Final Feast:
With one of their most important allies back, Lone revealed another important thing she had done as a Dragon. The group had saved Mongress, the Berserker Knights, the Paladins, and most of the Dwarves from the absolute law. With allies soon to be ready, there was only one thing left to do.
The party returned to Mongress for one last celebration. Many of their allies and friends would potentially die in the coming days. So they decided to make this moment count.
They spent time with their friends for one final celebration. The Orcs declared that they would faithfully worship Wylf who had come personally to save them from the grim fate. Several other armies also were at the ready. And their leaders all came to talk to the party.
Antoinette would lead the Berserker Knights personally. Artin had recruited a small army of Druids. The Dark Elves would gladly follow Wylf and his allies into Kranaak’s realm itself if need be. The Dwarves stood ready to assist Caic and the others. The Iceguts had their own specialized unit ready to fight. The Death Knights were ready to fight with the party. The Charice Faithful would work with all the armies and bolster their fighting spirits.
Volkoara meanwhile contemplated how almost every one of her friends were either dead or enemies now. She wished that she could talk to Thea one more time and try to convince her not to fight them. Other uninvited guests related to Thea appeared almost on command as she was thinking about the powerful Witch.
Villains Convene:
Caethia, Furavel, and Eleth once more appeared as they tended to. And as usual, the party and everyone there was ready to fight. But mostly with trembling hands. These were three of the most powerful Demons in existence after all. And it turned out they needed help with something.
Even they feared Luna’s growing power. And they were willing to team up with everyone to kill that Demon. But since they still served Kranaak, they would still be enemies until the moment they would betray Luna. Which meant the group would probably be fighting all three of them again soon.
But not yet. And as they left, Thea did show up. One last time she begged them not to damage the world any more than they had done so. But Grez pointed out that as one of the God’s of the setting, he was obligated to fix the world. Even if Orabaras in her own creepy way was sort of trying.
Naturally they wouldn’t give in to her demands. Enraged, she left and cautioned that the next time she saw them, she wouldn’t hold back. She would attack directly. And they had seen how powerful she was. But it was inevitable that they would clash. It was amazing that it had taken this long.
Final Preperations:
With little else to prepare, the party and their allies made their battle plan and got ready for the next day. They would have to face off against all three evil Gods at once. To win this they would have to fight not just Thea, but Moshe, Nihilinn’s high priest as well. And the last time he had completely manipulated them into doing his bidding.
And of course Kranaak had the biggest most dangerous challenge of all: Luna herself. Not to mention the three fallen Demon Lords. Ancient beings who had helped shape the modern world. Fighting styles that the party used had been created by them. And only by somehow trusting the word of Chaotic Evil beings could they defeat the first.
Wrap Up:
Setting off to certain doom for lots of people, even more if they failed, the Party headed towards the Charice Temple. It was time to end this.
