Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Cross Seminole Trail 8

After work I decided to check out Cross Seminole Trail 8. This section was similar to the last so I picked a different time of day to create different content than normal.

Mile Marker 25.75:

It took me some time to set out on Cross Seminole Trail 8. I picked a bad time to drive and had to avoid major accidents and terrible traffic. Once I found a place to park, I started in earnest on my newest adventure.

Like the last section, this part of the trail followed a major road and had little in the way of nature to look at. But there were plenty of shops and other points of interest to keep my eyes busy.

While before I had followed Reinhardt Road which is a local street, now I was following Florida State Road 46 which cuts across large parts of the state. Or at least half of it. I looked at a map to confirm.

Anyway, I passed Mile Marker 25.75 as the sun started to set. Since many of the places in this section of the trail look similar, I decided that showing time lapses over the course of this journey would spice things up a bit.

Mile Marker 26.0

I didn’t know that there was Route 46 Entertainment District over here. But as I followed Cross Seminole Trail 8 to the east, I learned of its existence. I couldn’t enter this place because it was locked. Also the trail didn’t go in there.

Otherwise, this section looked just like the last. But I did get a couple pictures of the moon. I don’t go out at night normally for my blog, but I actually like night more than day. Yes its less safe and I can’t take good pictures in the dark, but there is something comforting about darkness. We don’t fear darkness. We fear what we can’t see in that darkness.

I can’t believe that I passed Mile Marker 26. This trail has shown me plenty of places in that span of distance. That doesn’t even include the Cady Way Trail which connects to this one in Orange County Florida. This journey might be coming to an end soon, but there is so much to see in the world. This trail is just a small part of it.

Mile Marker 26.25:

As I continued down Cross Seminole Trail 8 the sky darkened and all the car lights came on. My phone camera is not high quality so you will be seeing a whole lot more of those lights as I continue.

The next part of the trail took me away from State Road 46 and alongside an even busier highway. In the pictures above, that traffic is on US Highway 17-92. That’s right. Two major highways following one road. Specifically US 92 exists to get some traffic off nearby Interstate 4. US 17 meanwhile is a major North South road that travels far away from Florida and follows Interstate 95 up the Atlantic Coast of the United States.

Though my camera picked up a ton of light and made the above images seem brighter than they actually are, the Mile Marker 26.25 picture reveals the truth. The sun’s light was quickly fading. And while I might have been a little more worried being all alone in the middle of the forest, alongside a well lit road with hundreds of cars passing by is a whole lot safer.

Mile Marker 26.5:

Red lights and more red lights as far as the eye can see. As I continued down Cross Seminole Trail 8, I could see a serious traffic jam building. A good thing I had no interest going that way in my car. I wonder why it was so backed up? This road doesn’t go directly to downtown Sanford. Perhaps everyone was trying to get to Interstate 4.

Another possibility is that trains kept going by and stopping everyone. You won’t see it until the next post but there is a massive rail yard nearby. The train lover in me wanted to continue, but I didn’t want to go too far in the complete dark. I felt the quality of images would be crappy if I stayed out too late.

Mile Marker 26.5 had a huge dirt mount around it and I knew to keep my distance. For those of you who do not live in Florida, those mounds are the home of a dangerous insect: Fire Ants. You learn very quickly to avoid large piles of dirt in the grass when you live here. Good thing I didn’t get stung. I hate those little buggers.

The final part of my walk on Cross Seminole Trail 8 gave me a moment to take a couple pictures looking ahead. Unfortunately, the car lights made it difficult to see much of anything that way. But don’t worry, my next adventure will be in morning light with significantly less traffic. You will see what lies beyond those bright car headlights. There won’t be a mile long traffic jam in the background of each image.

Pokémon Go:

Let’s talk about Cross Seminole Trail 8 as far as Pokémon Go is concerned. This wasn’t really a great spot to play. Most of this section of the trail is residential. Homes have driveways that feed directly onto 17-92. Since most people don’t want their homes to be Pokestops, the area was fairly barren.

There are nearby parks that are much better locations. I have explored a few of them in the past and there are several more that I plan to visit. Those are your spots for playing the game. The trail is just one of several ways to get there.

I didn’t travel as far as some other posts. Yet I hatched plenty of eggs. This happened because in game there is an event where egg hatching distance is cut in half. Look forward to plenty of hatches in my next few posts too. As I get close to the end of Cross Seminole Trail, I grow increasingly eager to be outside more. Especially with a job that keeps me at my computer all day.

It grew too dark for my camera to work properly in Pokémon Go. Sorry my little Dragon friend didn’t get to make an appearance in this blog post. I swear that Axew is still my buddy though. I promise you will see them in my next post.

Wrap Up:

Here I am. I look sorta happy. But really I was just tired after a long day of work. Honestly getting fresh air and going for such a fun walk at night was exactly what I needed to be happy the rest of the night.
