Centrum Glacies 2021 Session 13: To the Abyssal Continent

Admin/ September 9, 2021/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Week 13 in 2021 of this Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies finally is taking the party to the Abyssal Continent. What dangers will they encounter?

Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book series. However I’m still working on that project. Give it some time.

Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing once the book series starts hitting virtual and real shelves.

!!!Trigger Warning!!!

This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture.

Most recently one of the party members had an eye gouged out and lost an arm. Not exactly the way it happens in Berserk, but that might have been the inspiration for it. The group at large is currently succumbing to magical wounds that appear to be turning them into Demons.

!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!

The party split up into two groups due to separate ranks within the Adventurers Guild. The fight with Volun left Malcolm alone at the top as one of the most important four figures in the world.

Faustus, Trent, and Jyona got promoted properly to Platinum Adventurers alongside Adrene. But they didn’t feel very safe. The group met the other Platinum Adventurers including a dangerous woman named Zin. Telepathically reaching out to Faustus, the mysterious woman told him that she intended to take a certain artifact from him. He knew which one she meant and remained silent.

Though the group didn’t get to learn much about them, each of the Platinum Adventurers gave their names gave their name before leaving. Engelique, Elkor, and Tim were known by all three. Adrene had been promoted alongside the party. Lucian was an old friend of Jyona’s. The rest were strangers. Alin Goldback, Cararc Commonbrook, Haalsaanthur, Gor-Venal de Mowbray, Zinbella, and Borba Clansword were the rest by name.

Most of the group left after the initiation ended. Elkor had some scathing words for the party. But they ignored him. It was clear he was their enemy. Once only Englique, Tim, and Lucian remained did the party alongside the Vampire ally speak openly. Lucian warned that the rest were enemies and smelled blood in the water. The party needed to watch their back as they headed to the Abyssal Continent.

Meanwhile Malcolm met with the other Mythril Adventurers to plan an expedition to the Abyssal Continent. Important topics discussed focused how they were to make such an expedition. But Vim-Kios also warned that trouble was brewing on the Stinger Continent.

Traveling by Boat:

Next, the party traveled to the Abyssal Continent with Persephine and Engelique. With assurance that their friends injured in the war would be taken care of by the Adventurer’s Guild, little kept them from leaving.

They were warned about a magical plague in the form of flies. This obstacle still had not been properly researched. Little was understood about it save that the fly swarms followed patterns. The Witches warned it was best to avoid contact with these swarms.

Before they got a proper look at the Abyssal Continent, the ship passed by a massive armada or war-boats. With warnings to identify themselves or be sunk, Persephine contacted the armada and proved her identity. Telling this army that their ship was here on official Guild Business, they were allowed to continue their journey.

Once past that, they reached a frozen beach. A beach filled with the plague that was. Even from a distance the party could see the dark mass of death. But past that was what was more interesting. Though the name Abyssal Continent made the group think of fire and heat, beyond the insects sat a cold lonely beach.

Rushing through the flies, the party got their first taste of the plague. Not something they wanted to repeat. Faustus with his magic detection saw nothing. The plague remained an enigma. Engelique likewise dissuaded Jyona from trying to study the mysterious phenomenon.

Plans:

Resting for the night to recover, they prepared to set out the next day. Though the beach was cold, the witches used magic to keep their tents warm. Not that the party remained near them of course. How could they trust these two after all?

Persephine told Malcolm to search for the contact she had told him about prior. And the two had warnings to give Faustus about using his Mental Aspect of Magic. The group headed off without any other words. They needed to cross a massive frozen canyon carved into mountains.

Wrap Up:

Their adventures in the Abyssal Continent have only begun. But danger is approaching from all sides. And new threats will soon emerge.
