Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Lake Concord Park

Admin/ July 23, 2021/ Central Florida, Florida, Travel, Video Games

After going past it several times a day for years, I finally explored Lake Concord Park. I was happier to be here than I initially envisioned. Let’s take a look at what I found.

Before I could even check out Lake Concord Park, I needed to walk across a bridge. Since I failed to find the parking lot for the park, I went to the nearby Home Depot and parked there. But that wasn’t too much of an issue. My thoughts on Home Depot aside, I got to walk past Lake Concord itself.

As I continued my journey across the bridge to Lake Concord Park I found a few more things. Notably I found a plaque explaining some history of the area. I also got to read about some of the wildlife that frequents here. I saw plenty of turtles in the water but couldn’t get any pictures of them. Little guys wouldn’t sit still for long. They move faster than you might think.

The Park:

After finally making it across the bridge, I made it to Lake Concord Park. The varied green areas and multiple information signs greeted me. Some were warnings about not feeding wildlife. Others which were not as common as the first one mentioned. I focused more on learning about the park. Something that the plaques all around had no trouble doing.

Lake Concord Park has many things to check out. These varied views gives plenty of reason to visit more than once. I liked the gardens the most. Many parks I have explored in the past lack them. So I drew attention to it when I spot it.

Artwork:

The next leg of my journey around Lake Concord Park too me near some buildings. I’m not sure if they were open due to Covid. But even if they were, I try to avoid focusing on indoor areas while outside. While I have gone inside for a couple adventures those were unique places that warranted the rules being broken.

In addition to plaques there was plenty of art to be found here. I spent a bit of time looking at this art. After all, I wasn’t going to rush through this park. I had waited years to come here and wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to finally get my fill. Unlike one of my prior adventures, I wasn’t on a time limit this time around.

This next set of pictures at Lake Concord Park happened to be right next to the ones above. But there was just so much artwork in this little corner of the world that I couldn’t help but focus on each spot individually. I also got a closer look at that building from the earlier photo. I think the sign in the above pictures explains what’s going on in there, but I went here a while ago and forgot what I might have found otherwise.

Where I should Have Started:

Moving away from the art and buildings for a moment, I returned to the varied landscapes of Lake Concord Park. The pathways decided to go for bold by sticking potted plants right in the middle of a heavily used spot. You can’t see others in my photos by design. But take my word for it. Plenty of people visited this park while I was here. I have just gotten more skilled over time at taking images with care and timing.

This park has lots of information signs scattered about. And I see nothing wrong with this. The combination of being outside and learning at the same time lends itself to an experience I wish I could have had while in school. While I’m exploring this idea, I wonder if school might be improved by trying that.

Also I want to draw attention to the covered partially submerged area shown above. I have seen more of these at other Florida Parks. The one that comes to mind first is Kissimmee Lakefront. I’m not sure what it is or was used for. Maybe someone who does can enlighten me.

Extra Suprises:

One of the most interesting little tidbits of Lake Concord Park is that a police station and utilities building are right next to it. This leads to some confusing signs being posted about. But even more confusing to me personally was the mixed use of the parking lot for the park. This is near where I would have parked if I had figured it out properly. But in hindsight, I’m glad I didn’t I wouldn’t have gone on the bridge otherwise.

For the last leg of my adventure around Lake Concord Park, I found the spot that Google Maps is likely to show you. I saved the most iconic spots in the park for last. Funny in the end since this is where I would have started if I could have gone to the right parking lot. But I find it fitting that I explored a park that I had waited years to see backwards.

With more art, signs, and even some playground equipment, there is plenty to do and see here. I was pleased with this adventure. It was worth the wait.

Pokémon Go:

I have shown Lake Concord Park in detail in the real world. So let’s talk about Pokémon Go. This might be one of the weirdest parks when it comes to playing in game. You can see there are plenty of Pokestops and two gyms as well. Normally that is a recipe for an amazing spot to play. And in a way it is. Just not the way I thought. This park had very few spawns. Lots of stops to pick up items and some gyms to battle.

Its perfect if you want to stock up on items without having to catch lots of rare Pokémon. A rare combination in game which might warrant coming here. However, if you want to catch stuff too, I would recommend elsewhere. One final thing though. It was a nest. You can see the nearby was all Skourupi which when I played was not an event Pokémon.

This was my final adventure with Sewaddle. It gained enough candy to fully evolve while on this journey. Its time traveling with me was short, but we both had fun.

Here I am looking angry as usual. But don’t worry. I had a lot of fun at Lake Concord Park.

Wrap Up:

I apologize for how long it took for this post to get up. Its tough battling depression and I have been fighting it for the good part of a month now. Hopefully I can get the energy to go outside and explore more now that I finished this write up.
