Centrum Glacies 2021 Session 7: Sword of Career Identity Crisis

Admin/ May 27, 2021/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Week seven in 2021 of this Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies seems to be reaching the head as the plot twists drop. Malcolm was forced to use a sword of career identity crisis.

Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book series. However I’m still working on that project. Give it some time.

Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing once the book series starts hitting virtual and real shelves.

!!!Trigger Warning!!!

This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture.

Most recently one of the party members had an eye gouged out and lost an arm. Not exactly the way it happens in Berserk, but that might have been the inspiration for it. The group at large is currently succumbing to magical wounds that appear to be turning them into Demons.

!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!

Malcolm grabbed his new sword and the group returned to the entrance hall. The group had nothing else to go on besides the Paladin’s visions. Given what they currently faced though, seeing visions actually made a lot of sense.

When they entered the hall, the statues near the entrance came to life. As they moved from the former pedestals, the strange sword glowed causing runes to run down the blade. Runes that revealed to the dwarf the true purpose of the weapon he had picked up.

Malcolm realized that his sword was created to kill golems. Convinent that there happened to be two right in front of him. Yet this bothered him. So to shrug off his issues, he renamed this unique weapon: Sword of Career Ideinty Crisis. And charged in.

Golem Crisis:

Faustus remained unable to fight until Volun forced him to against his will. Yet still the Warlock tried to fight it. The Mythril Adventurer expressed disappointment at how weak the Half Demon had become.

While Trent as a Giant Scorpion and Malcom with his Golem Slaying Sword fought the golems, Joyna grabbed the dwarf’s pickaxe and used it on the golem. It broke. It wasn’t a weapon that could damage such a creature. The magical stone however did not suffer such problems.

Faustus’ crisis reached a head and he managed to resist mind control and fall back into catatonia. He showcased extraordinary willpower to be able to overpower a reality warping artifact. Yet instead of fighting, he used his potent stubbornness to sit this fight out once more.

Apephe refused to let him sit out. Evil Dragon she might be, but she cared enough about Faustus to give him a rousing speech. Her words appeared to be so potent that they broke him out of the mental state he had willingly induced. This time he was ready to fight and kill. Screeching that he would kill Volun personally.

The Party destroyed the Golems. Without the unique weapon, their journey might have ended in that room in the most fatal of ways. A point that the Peacemaker Leader had no problem reminding them.

The Wand:

Their guided tour continued deeper into the cathedral. The party liked how this was playing out less by the minute. But they had no other option. They couldn’t even leave if they wanted to.

Faustus charged ahead and was compelled to pick up a wand in one of the next rooms. This was more of Volun’s work. He even induced another vision of battle. Just like he had done earlier with Malcolm.

Joyna checked the wand and found it to be capable of removing resistances. Given what had just happened with the Sword of Career Identity Crisis, the group expected that they would need to use this new item soon.

Helmed Horrors:

The party proceeded into next room, opened by Volun of course. And they encountered Helmed Horrors. As it turned out, the Warlock would be using this new item immediately.

Faustus realized that these monsters were immune to his favorite spell. He solved that problem immediately with his new wand. No longer protected from Force Damage, he quickly dealt multiple lethal blows.

Malcolm realized that these monsters were also vulnerable to his new weapon. This only made the fight swerve into their favor that much faster.

Jyona tried to remove a helm from the helmed horror. She didn’t like the result. Especially since the head looked at her as if wondering what the hell she was thinking.

Wrap Up:

As the party defeated the Helmed Horrors a new path opened. The group doesn’t like how their after choice is being decided for them. Almost like their thoughts are no longer their own.
