Centrum Glacies 2021 Session 3: Even More Ideals Clash

Admin/ February 18, 2021/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Week three in 2021 of this Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies grew intense as even more ideals clash from all sides.

Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book series. However I’m still working on that project. Give it some time.

Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing once the book series starts hitting virtual and real shelves.

!!!Trigger Warning!!!

This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture.

Most recently one of the party members had an eye gouged out and lost an arm. Not exactly the way it happens in Berserk, but that might have been the inspiration for it. The group at large is currently succumbing to magical wounds that appear to be turning them into Demons.

!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!

The clash between the Southern Empire and the Imperials continued. This was despite a third army entering the fray and taking on both. Lead by the extremely cunning and deadly Mythril Adventurer Persephine and her right hand woman Engelique, these two managed to get enemies to work together with promises of killing the duo later.

The party including Faustus the Half Demon Warlock, Trent Westwood the Human Druid, Jyona Thornwreath the Half Elf Artificer and poor Malcolm the Dwarf Paladin who still doesn’t know how his simple assignment escalated to such an insane degree had no choice but to fight alongside them. Many of these combatants are their enemy too. Notably Szukli the Naga Priestess who leads her own contingent of troops means to harm the group.

Vampires and Bats:

Persephine summoned Swarm of bats to aid Adrene, the Vampiress who for reasons of her own had decided to pick this side in the conflict. She had already crossed the wall into the Imperial City and starting turning the troops into her own minions.

Unfortunately, many of the party’s former allies were on the side of the Imperial Army. Seemingly mind controlled by the Peacemakers, a Cult that the party intends to destroy, these powerful warriors had fought Vampires before. Thus, Adrene was hit by Daylight Spell and her newly created spawn screamed as all Vampires do when exposed to direct sunlight.

Dragons:

But if things seemed complicated already, they only got worse when a horrific roar in the distance announced a new threat. Or rather an old threat that the party had thought was defeated. Dragons announced their entrance to this battle.

The Southern Army retreated back towards the magical fire the party had created as a collective effort to box this army in. But they feared Dragons far more than Magical Fire.

Persephine dispelled daylight spell thinking quickly and planning for how to deal with this new threat. Replacing it with a darkness spell, she created the optimal conditions for the Vampires to have their way with a large section of the Imperial Army.

Apephe appeared with a host of Blue Dragons. Although she cleared quite a few of the Southern Troops in the Dragon’s initial assault, she demonstrated that after everything, she was still a child in maturity. Faustus tried to get her to leave. She simply stuck out her Dragon tongue and told him to shove it.

Blue Destruction:

Her allies turned north and attacked the wall where the still stunned Imperial Troops fought back against a host of Dragons in vain. But Apephe flew the other way, towards the party. It is unclear if she harbors a grudge towards Persephine for slaughtering her family or not.

The Southern Soldiers got wiped out while being attacked by a Blue Dragon from above and surrounded by Naga Soldiers. The party, or rather the ones who hadn’t advanced towards the northern wall joined in on this attack. Jyona revealed the true extent of the third army.

Faustus, having none of this, attacked Englique in fury when she refused to give in to his demands to protect Apephe. He had failed to convince the young Dragon to flee this battlefield and the powerful Witch told him that she had chosen this path herself. It was not his place to change that.

Cult of Obsidian:

Unfortunately, this battle was far from over. The group had feared that the Cult of Obsideon was manipulating the Southern Empire. The fact that they appeared right where the recently fallen army had stood prior only confirmed these suspicions.

The firestorm that the party had made use of to deal with the Southern Army was turned against them. This was after all, what the Cult of Obsidian was known for. Fire Elementals appeared all around the Naga army. Jyona, realizing she was in danger, used magic to retreat away from this soon to be bloodbath.

Jai Hin, the party’s staunchest ally seemed to have succumbed to her Demon wounds. A creature of Fire that wore her face screamed skyward and charged towards the nearby wall. Its a good thing no one stood in her way.

Trent as a rat continued to climb the wall. He hoped to make contact with their former allies and try to end this conflict quickly. If that was impossible, at least he could quickly figure out if any other surprises waited for them when they tried to enter the city.

Adriene left the Imperial area content with the chaos she had sowed. Even while she bore burn marks from direct sunlight, her smile could be seen across the entire scorched farmland.

Multi Army Melee:

The Naga prepared to kill Apephe who they marked as an enemy. Her Dragon tribe had battled the Naga for the very relic that Persphine currently had in her possession. The party knew that both intended to try and claim it as their own.

Persephine and her Witch Coven summoned a rainstorm to wash the elementals away. The Cult of Obsideon was far too dangerous to ignore and the powerful Mythril Adventurer turned her full attention towards this threat.

Some of the big players are still missing. Three Mythril Adventurers are unaccounted for. The party has seen what Persephine is capable of. She potentially could end this entire fight on her own. The only reason she is holding back is fear that one of the others might appear. What will happen when they do?
