Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Cady Way Trail Part 2
Cady Way Trail Part 2 takes off right where I stopped in my last post. The path weaves around Baldwin Park and the surrounding areas. Let’s see what I discovered.
Cady Way Trail Part 2 starts in an unnamed park on the outskirts of Baldwin Park. I was hardly the only one to make use of this part of the trail and I took care not to include others in my pictures when possible.
This scenic area draws many who seek peace of mind. Even the intense Florida heat did not prevent me from coming here. And that went double for the many others who came in groups or with their pets.
As I continued farther into the unnamed park that Cady Way Trail Part 2 continues to snake through, I spotted a lake. Luckily for those of you tired of my lakefront obsession, the trees blocked a proper view. But don’t worry, there are plenty of lakes in this region. Just because this blog post dodged it does not mean the others will too.
Baldwin Park has many areas to sit and relax and the clearing I found here was one such spot. I am considering moving near Baldwin one day since it is right next to downtown Orlando and situated in the middle of everything. This translates to more blog posts!
Into Baldwin Park:
One of the most striking parts of Cady Way Trail Part 2 is how close it gets to everything passing it by. There are many parts of the route that are bordered by barbed wire fence. And just as common are apartment complexes and paths towards homes and other areas of the region.
The rest area pictured above was the first area with drinking fountains I encountered on this excursion. Despite the extreme heat, I had chosen to walk a long path. But that did not help me when I tried to drink the water. Such extreme heat had even reached the pumps for the water resulting in hot water.
Continuing down, Cady Way Trail Part 2 opens up a bit more. The design choice of creating two different paths was intriguing. The larger path is for bikes, and the smaller for pedestrians. Admittedly, not everyone read the signs properly, myself included. But the fact that this attention to detail exists in the first place is promising.
The other notable feature of this part of the trail is the multiple road crossings. Looking carefully, it is almost possible to be fooled into thinking that I am walking down a street thanks to the stop signs. Treating the trail as if it is a road is a fantastic step forward in protecting both pedestrians and drivers. So many don’t look both ways before crossing at an intersection. Even the moment of hesitation can save lives.
Past the Curve:
The heat continued to intensify as I walked farther down Cady Way Trail Part 2. After a curve to avoid downtown Baldwin Park, the trail continued much as it had before with the divide between bikes and walkers. The only new addition was a semi fence to keep cars and the trail as separate entities.
The brief forested region was helpful in allowing me to get this far on the walk. I cannot stress enough how hot it was outside. Covered in sweat within moments of starting, it felt over 105 degrees Fahrenheit (40.5 degrees Celsius) but I pressed on. I was almost to my target.
Now for a plot twist on Cady Way Trail Part 2. I have made use of this path before. This helped me have a general idea of where I want to stop each excursion. I choose this spot pictured above because this crossing marks where the trail leaves Baldwin Park and continues elsewhere. Also this street is an easy place to remember since it is a major road that leads into the rest of Baldwin Park.
Pokemon Go:
Since I walked quite a ways, it was hard for me to showcase any specific spots of this trail in Pokemon Go. Sadly, Cady Way Trail Part 2 had even less to find than Part 1. There were spawns from time to time as I walked quite a distance. But these areas were in the nearby Baldwin Park regions. The trail itself is not a Pokemon Go hotspot.
Considering how far I walked today, it should be no surprise that I hatched a few eggs. Sadly, none of them were Pokemon I need. Still, there are very few Pokemon I still need anyway.
Since Baldwin Park has so many parks to cover, I’ll be taking a break from Cady Way Trail for a bit to cover them all. Look forward to one of the most beautiful areas in the Orlando region.
