Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Warren Park
After hitting most of the cluster of parks near downtown, I decided to look elsewhere for a change of pace. Warren Park was the first that I found by going a different direction from my house.
Though it is a bit smaller than the last few places I visited, Warren Park has a lot to offer. From volleyball courts to tennis, there is a little for everyone here. The playground pictured above sits near the center of the park for good reason. This area was planned for families to enjoy together.
Multiple picnic areas are also scattered around the open fields that define Warren Park. Though I saw no one doing so at the time, I imagine that there are many barbecues that happen here. Perhaps the cloudy sky kept people away. I was worried about rain pretty much the entire time I was here.
Probably the most unusual aspect of Warren Park was one of the Pokemon Go requirements. There are multiple Pokestops and two gyms here. However, to reach roughly half of these places requires being on the outside of the park.
I showcased what it looks like just outside of Warren Park in the above photo. Not everywhere I walked had a proper sidewalk, but I also imagine that this park was not built to accommodate Pokemon Go.
Pokemon Go:
Speaking of Pokemon Go, here is most of Warrn Park in game. I say most because I realized after the fact that I choose a poor position to take this image. Half the Pokestops and one of the Gyms lie on the missing part of the map.
As you can see in the nearby Pokemon tab in this image, it is plain to see that Jynx is a nest Pokemon here. It is obvious because of the generation 3 event happening in Pokemon Go. As a general rule of thumb in Go, if an event is active, and you encounter a single Pokemon multiple times that is not part of that event in the same area, you are at a nest. Its not a catch all strategy, but it is one to consider.
While the nest does make this place appealing, there are better places to play Pokemon Go. Also, although there is plenty to do and see here, few things are notable enough to separate Warren Park from many of the other locations I have visited.
I hatched an Onix today. This happens to be my brother’s favorite Pokemon. I’ll make sure he sees this. Anyhow, make sure to keep on the lookout for my next area explored. I’ll be sure to write about it.
