Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Greenwood Urban Wetlands
Right next to the Greenwood Cemetery that this area shares its name with sits Greenwood Urban Wetlands. Pleased with what I found at an early urban wetlands park, I set out to explore this one too.
To the surprise of no one who is reading this, wetlands are well… wet. Since I love taking pictures of lakes and marshes, here are several different areas of Greenwood Urban Wetlands. I was not the only individual here. There were multiple hikers who I shared the trails with. In addition, I saw a group having a picnic as well as an actual photographer who was using a real camera.
I also saw many animals making use of the area. Fish swimming in the rivers, bogs and creeks would suddenly become food to birds. Watching nature in action is pretty awesome. I also got swarmed by ants at one point and destroyed a few spiderwebs. It was quite an adventure.
The Trail:
To walk around the marshes safely required me to follow the trail. I took some pictures that did not involve the lakes. Here are some of the walk able areas of Greenwood Urban Wetlands. There is more to see than just pools of water. Though that should be obvious.
Through the trees here, the Greenwood Cemetery is visible. I feel one with myself while walking around such places, however I feel going to such a place for a travel blog would be in bad taste. Not to mention there is a good chance I would get cursed.
Strangely enough, there are lots of Pokestops in the Cemetery and especially at launch, such places were prime places to play. Given the problems this caused, I assume that is not the case anymore.
Off in one corner of the park was an entire area dedicated to pets past, present, and future. I took a moment to reflect on how important my own kitty is in my life. Life without him is impossible to imagine.
I have snapped pictures like this one in past posts. It is a reminder to me to look at my surroundings. I travel down this street pictured multiple times a week and yet I never thought to stop and come explore what was right nearby. This travel blog is helping me correct this error.
Pokemon Go:
I’ll admit this was not the best spot to take the picture. Three of the nearby Pokestops are not visible. With that in mind I want to stress that this place is acceptable to play Pokemon Go, but no where near fantastic. Lake Eola is only a few blocks away and so if you are looking for a pure Pokemon Go experience, one cannot go wrong there.
However, to the adventurer, this place has some amazing views. If you are looking for some place new, Greenwood Urban Wetlands will not disappoint.
I hatched another Cleffa today. I was not amused.
Who knows where my travels will take me next? We will find out together tomorrow.
