Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Yucatan Park
Christmas is over, but my exploration via Pokemon Go is simply beginning. Today I went to Yucatan Park. I had attempted to go here yesterday but because of Christmas, the gates were shut. Today was different and I set out to see what I could find.
Like many of the parks I have visited recently, Yucatan Park has a playground by the entrance for the little ones. There were actually two right next to each other. However, one was being used by children and as I have stated before, I feel it is immoral to take pictures of children without the consent of both their parents and the children themselves.
To the surprise of no one who has been reading my travel blog, this park has a lake. What is a surprise compared to other locations is the fact that the lake at Yucatan Park is gone. Perhaps it is only a temporary lake or a water shed. Whatever the case, the region around the lake is fenced off.
The Activity Areas:
As I headed to the opposite side of Yucatan Park, I came across multiple activity areas. The first of these was a basketball court. Soon after I walked past this area, a pickup game started. I managed to get this picture just in time.
The next area I found was a covered skate park. I mentioned in an early post about how I had never felt comfortable on a skateboard. Because I never properly experienced this sport, I am unsure whether this is a quality skate park or not. I’ll leave that up to those who know the equipment better.
Up next was the volleyball court. I am a bit more experienced in this sport, but only by a little. This seems like a pretty nice setup to play. Though I imagine that the average Floridian thinks that 70 degree weather is too cold to be playing volleyball. It was empty as a result.
The other end of Yucatan Park was admittedly unremarkable. The entrance lacked a parking lot and there was little but an open field and a small covered area nearby. This end was filled with park maintenance people. I was unsure what they were doing.
Pokemon Go:
Here is Yucatan Park in Pokemon Go. I controlled all three gyms while I took this image. There is a wild Stantler visible as well and this was a result of there being a nest here. Sadly, though Stantler is normally rare, he is not a valuable Pokemon. Also unfortunate for him, the ongoing winter event increased his spawn rates. If not for me encountering other Pokemon Go players who confirmed that this was a nest, I never would have even known.
Don’t let that one thing stop you from playing though. Multiple raids happened while I was here. And the density of Pokemon Spawns was high. Coming here to play Pokemon Go is worth while. Especially if a useful nest is active.
As usual, here is what hatched while I explored Yucatan Park. Larvitar is a large improvement over Porygon. Sadly, the Individual Values on this little critter made me send him to the candy dumpster. Rest in peace little dinosaur.
Tomorrow I’ll go find someplace new to explore. Look forward to it!
