Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Lake Adair Park

Admin/ April 22, 2019/ Travel

After being stopped by construction, I finally got a chance to explore Lake Adair Park. I was excited by what I found here.

Given the name Lake Adair Park, it should come as no surprise that there is a lake here. Equally unsurprising is my fascination with taking pictures around the lake. However, this park one an aspect unlike any I had ever seen before.

Look closely in some of the pictures. You might see some Otters. I have never seen them outside of a zoo. It was pretty amazing to be this close to an animal that I rarely encounter. There were others at the park who was just as amazed. I had to wait around a bit to get my chance at taking pictures.

The lake is not the only feature to see. Lake Adair Park has a lot going for it on the lake shore. One of the areas showcased above is actually an extension of a park I visited prior. Overbrook Park’s little stream ends its journey at the lake I explored today.

Past the Detour:

At one point while exploring Lake Adair Park, I was forced to leave the park. The construction there is ongoing and I missed a small portion of the area. To make up for this problem, I made sure to take some more pictures across the lake towards the areas I had no choice but to skip over.

I did not take any pictures of my detour. I walked through a neighborhood where people’s private property gets close to the road. Since I respect people’s privacy, I left any of those images off my blog.

As I came close to where I started, I reflected on the fact that while this place looks so similar to other parks I have visited in the past, that there is still many sets of differences. Even the most simple of parks have their own unique beauty. Though Lake Adair Park is helped by one final aspect that makes it unique.

Around Lake Adair Park sit a series of descriptions. All of them share information about the many different birds that call this park home. No, I will not be telling you what each of these posters say. This is a blog about exploration. If you want to know what is talked about, you will have to come here for yourself and see!

Pokemon Go:

I have showcased Lake Adair Park in the real world. But does it measure up in Pokemon Go. At first, I was worried that this park would continue the trend of hard passes that I have seen of late. And for quite a while, the lack of spawns convinced me this would be true. Though a few did show up, which is already an improvement, I discovered something else that increased the value of this place immensely.

See the two gyms pictured above? One of them is special. The one in the top left of the above image is an EX Raid Gym. For those who do not play the game either much or at all, that is alone a reason to come here and play the game.

EX Raids are how you obtain some of the rarest Pokemon in Go such as Mewtwo and Deoxys. Right now Defense Form Deoxys is the prize, but given that this is the only way to obtain such a Pokemon, make sure to check this place out.

When one considers that even when I am not exploring parks, I am walking around a lot, it should be no surprise that I hatch eggs. When the current double hatching event is also active, there will be plenty of cute critters emerging from eggs. Two of the above were the first time I have caught said Pokemon. Sometimes being patient pays off.

There are still many places to explore within a block of where I went today. Expect those places to be showcased next time.
